I am planning to get a 1TB Western Digital HDD. There are two types. One is normal and another one is black edition. Just wonder got any different other than 5 years warranty? Performance wise or reliability matter?

One question here...
Let say I have 5 different types of files - photos, music, movies, documents and applications.
Is it better to put them into 5 different folders or 5 different partitions in my external hdd ?

i think 5 different folders should do. you're gonna have headache if you make 5 partitions, especially when you wanna keep stuff not categorized under those 5 types.

I plan to get myself a portable harddisk. No idea at all what to get.
Purpose of using it will be to store picutures, music and videos.
Storage wise,I prefer the most cost effective capacity (In terms of RM per MB) . Any suggestion? 500MB or 1TB or any others
Transfer speed also I concern. Any relatioship between transfer speed and RPM? (Sorry for noob question)
Budget wise, any amount will do. As long as value for money. (Please don't treat this as 'no budget limit' thus suggest a super high end harddisk; 'value for money ' is the key words.)

QUOTE(enriquelee @ Jun 3 2009, 09:53 AM) Other than segate freeagent, any other recomendation? It depends on what you need actually. There are alot of brands out there nowadays. I have the WD Passport and its ok for me as well. The same as those which i bought the HDD and case seperately Buffalo seems to be a good brand as well.
