This is a review of Seagate's Barracuda 7200.12 hard drive. I was looking to buy one but after reading the review, I changed my mind. Decided to go with Western Digital's 640GB unit.

One question here...

Let say I have 5 different types of files - photos, music, movies, documents and applications.

Is it better to put them into 5 different folders or 5 different partitions in my external hdd ?
*
not a good idea , mayb 2 is enuf bcoz doc very small oni
i would split photo , musics and doc under 1
movies and app under 1

Sometimes WD comes out with odd capacities for hard disks but production is quite limited. I remember ALL IT was selling an odd-capacity WD hard disk early this year with good RM:Gigabyte ratio.
*
but some ppl said 808gb is 1tb with bad sector disable , similar to phenom x3

Just got myself a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA (ST31000528AS,32 MB Cache) 3 days ago...surprisingly the temp is quite low, only 41-42C considered no HDD fan + no front intake fan + sandwich between 3 HDD tongue.gif

The linear read throughput is quite good, I think miles ahead WD Caviar Black, but just wondering the reliability. Here the picture.

[attachmentid=1168351]

Hmm, some more it was very quiet during operation, so the noise and temp actually beyond my expectation. thumbup.gif

how come it slower than 640AAKS?
but its running quite cool , in air cond room?even my WD green running 45c in normal room

Just bought my Spinpoint F3 yesterday and installed Win7 on it. Can't really feel the difference compared to my WD Caviar Green though. lol

But at least I have a lot more space now =D
*
how come
my blue and green drive show huge diff
my green copy file @ 30mbps while my blue @60mbps

BTW i juz bought new samsung f2 1.5tb drive
but why the SMART so low?? 72% newly bought??
even my 2 years old caviar green got 82% while cavair blue @79%
but the temp is freaking low and faster than my green alot
