QUOTE(bhypp @ Nov 1 2008, 08:19 AM) u used to work as a barista?? yea i think the coffee here is quite special since u need skill to make it....and u need the machine too! hey bro. no no. i wasnt a barista. its just i used to hang out a lot at these 24 hour type coffee shops. like after playin snooker or pool. (this was almost 4-5 times a week) hahaha. obsession. but yeah. the cops always come by to get their coffee and tea and what not. anyway i think what pandamans trying to say is that its not all good and nice over here....there are alot of bad things bout Australia too...just that too many ppl from Msia has got the perception that its all 100% good here aka no corruption, no violence, no robbery / assault, no racism, no wasting of taxpayer money..... etc etc etc...... i think both countries has all of those....and its just up to the person itself to see which is the better of the bads....and i think by no means pandamans trying to attack australia but its jsut that he's trying to correct the typical msian perception of aus.....which i agree with him..... and haya.....u said msian legalize rempits.....okay what about the aus govt giving monetary support aka doles to the lazy homeless, drunkards, druggies??? isn't that legalization and even promoting these bad stuffs?? and i think most of the assaults / robbery / house break-ins are caused by these group of ppl...... yeah crime is rampant everywhere. what to do right. i know a few people that got married where their grandpa is a criminal shipped to aussie and their grandma was a police man/woman escorting the criminals to australia. hahah. so funny. BTW. good luck to those doing exams. pace yourselves. and remember to turn off your phone. heheh. my uni someones phone went off. its straight fail during exam. make sure your alarms are off too. QUOTE(SeeD @ Nov 1 2008, 08:35 AM) If you wanna really rate how a country is performing ... actually i prefer to transfer next semester.. as the schedule not so tight.. i can take my own sweet time to arrange it and also don't have to scare of the ambassador department to close at what what time..Go study the country's law. Added on November 1, 2008, 8:39 am Hi Lynn, It's best to transfer into the semester that allows you to fit nicely into the standard plan of the course. If you join half way and you have to take courses that are supposed to be taken by year 3 (assuming you're transferring into year 2), then you will have a hard time studying. I myself had experienced ... well still experiencing the difficulty of transferring into third year semester 2 while I am supposed to complete second year semester 2 first before continuing. I'm taking Engineering and right now in Year 3 semester 3. All the core subjects requires a thorough understanding of Control Systems which is covered in my Year 2 Semester 2 that I have yet to take. Right now I'm going to the exam hall to face my judgment but also.. the $$.. everything is damn expensive now.. *later "money not enough 3" casting by me..* QUOTE(KVReninem @ Nov 1 2008, 08:41 AM) simplfied: if i transfer 1 sem earlier, i have to pay around 100k.. but if i stay at sunway here.. i only have to pay around 30k..if you transfer on 1st smster; wats the cost? if you transfer later; wats the cost too? About holiday; its not a issue here, as you have to long summer holiday after you are done. if financial issue is problem; its better you hold back from my point of view. From general Australian perspective; things are getting more pricey than expected.Import goods; daily groceries all goes up as the reverse of dollar gone bad. that's huge amount.. and some more i have to consider of my brother as well.. he's studying in form 4 now.. going to form 5 next year.. and year after next.. COLLEGE.. which means... MONEY!! |

Even the x-rate came down to 2.3 to 2.5; if things get worst back msia; there is possibility harder for your parents funding you here. You can work part time if you have the guts to work things out well It do sound harsh; but if you can by all mean; why not.~ |

If money pose a significant problem for you,i dont think it's a good idea for you to come to Aus to study then because even with the current low exchange rate,i dont think it will stay on this level for a long time.but also.. the $$.. everything is damn expensive now.. *later "money not enough 3" casting by me..* if i transfer 1 sem earlier, i have to pay around 100k.. but if i stay at sunway here.. i only have to pay around 30k.. that's huge amount.. and some more i have to consider of my brother as well.. he's studying in form 4 now.. going to form 5 next year.. and year after next.. During that stay you will be working and experience the most of yourself here in Australia. In the same time you must also apply your PR during that period. Then hopefully after 2 years of staying in Australia you can get your PR This post has been edited by SeeD: Nov 1 2008, 05:13 PM |

Do honours2. Feb09-Nov 10 is considered 2 years of study. If you want to count it *your* way, then you'll have to minus off your summer, winter and mid-sem holidays which accumulates to about 4 months a year. 3. What course are you doing? Are you sure it is under the skilled occupation list? Most courses under the SOL requires at least 3 years of study, unless you're doing some TAFE course. QUOTE(SeeD @ Nov 1 2008, 05:12 PM) There's a way around the 2 years study to get PR. Doesn't work this way, you need 2 years of studying in Australia, not 2 years of staying in Australia. Well transferring one semester earlier wouldn't make a difference of RM100k, assuming that you need RM120k (based on the old $1:RM3 rate), the difference in 1 semester wouldn't come to a figure of RM100k. Just wondering how long are you gonna be here in Australia? but also.. the $$.. everything is damn expensive now.. And to what SeeD has just mentioned, somehow it's always better to start in the first semester, I have couple of friends who have to alter their subjects order due to some subjects only being offered in certain semester (either 1 or 2). QUOTE(zltan @ Nov 1 2008, 05:59 PM) really? isnt it DIMIA, Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs? well thats what i was registered at in melbourne. maybe its different. names. but same office. |
