i was with telstra for a bit. they are stable. but they give you a very low cap. from 2Mb line after 10 gigs. they cap you to 512Kbps

switched to iinet. they were working pretty good. they gave around 20-40 gig before they capped.
*
Telstra do charge $/MB after using up quota right? and their plans are expensive ... sweat.gif

iinet is great, I would like to join up iinet once their ADSL2+ is available in my area tongue.gif

QUOTE(Ver @ Oct 31 2008, 10:13 AM)
Hi, sorry for quoting you again, but i was just wondering what you meant by combined degree as in double degrees (and not a Bachelor of Accounting with Law type of degree), because i'm planning on doing a dd(double degree) in law/commerce (majoring in accounting), actually it's just for the benefit of getting a PR, because everyone mentioned that i can get a PR with my first degree after 3 years (accounting), and even get a PR before i graduate.

Job opportunity wise, i'm a bit worried, because a friend of mine that graduated from UWA law school 2 years ago is now jobless, can't much find job. Is there a clear discriminate between locals and non-locals in this field? I don't mean racism or anything, but just personal preference when it comes to such a professional legal part of work. Pls and tq guys xDxD

Btw, UWA law, here i comeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!
*
Actually, im not too familiar with the terminology, but a combined degree to me is a degree with a double major, whereas a double degree is a course comprising of two separate degrees done over a shorter span of time. I may be wrong about the terms though.

Yeah, accounting will get u a PR, that's why im using my accounts qualification and not my law degree to get into australia first. This is despite the fact that i intend to practice law in Australia eventually. The key is getting your PR first, as it may give u a boost in your job search since u have residency. It is not impossible to get a job as a lawyer in Australia after u graduate (i try to refrain from using the word impossible in relation to these sort of things. Optimism!), but you must go on and pursue your practice cert and chambering in order to qualify as a Legal practitioner under the SOL. Very hard to rely on your stand alone law degree. As with regards to discrimination, i reckon only experience in the working life there can truly give one an answer. I think it would be natural for them to prefer the locals, but imho, if u are qualified enough, if u can speak English well enough, and u are eligible to work, you shud be ok.

Actually combined degree satisfies the minimum requirements to graduate with both combo (e.g Civils and Maths Science)
When you grad you will get only get 1 certificate, double degree is different cause i know some of my friends have to do summer course because some do economics and engineering subjects, but they definitely satisfies more than the minimum requirements and when you grad you will get 2 certificate of degrees (e.g Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Economics).

u used to work as a barista?? yea i think the coffee here is quite special since u need skill to make it....and u need the machine too!

anyway i think what pandamans trying to say is that its not all good and nice over here....there are alot of bad things bout Australia too...just that too many ppl from Msia has got the perception that its all 100% good here aka no corruption, no violence, no robbery / assault, no racism, no wasting of taxpayer money..... etc etc etc......

i think both countries has all of those....and its just up to the person itself to see which is the better of the bads....and i think by no means pandamans trying to attack australia but its jsut that he's trying to correct the typical msian perception of aus.....which i agree with him.....

and haya.....u said msian legalize rempits.....okay what about the aus govt giving monetary support aka doles to the lazy homeless, drunkards, druggies??? isn't that legalization and even promoting these bad stuffs?? and i think most of the assaults / robbery / house break-ins are caused by these group of ppl......

hi guys..

need some advice here.. tongue.gif
whether should i transfer on the 1st semester or 2nd semester..

this is the situation:
if i wanna transfer on the 1st semester.. i have 4 months holiday to complete all the transfer stuff such as visa, passport, air ticket, buy all sort of clothes *for cold weather* and much more..

but if i wanna transfer on the 2nd semester.. i have only 2 weeks holiday only, and should say even less than 2 weeks as 1 week before the course start, they have the orientation week.. therefore, i have only 1 week to complete all these stuff..

what should i do? transfer on the 1st semester or 2nd semester..
and also the other problem is $$ problem.. that's why i can't decide now..

Hi Lynn,

It's best to transfer into the semester that allows you to fit nicely into the standard plan of the course.

If you join half way and you have to take courses that are supposed to be taken by year 3 (assuming you're transferring into year 2), then you will have a hard time studying.

I myself had experienced ... well still experiencing the difficulty of transferring into third year semester 2 while I am supposed to complete second year semester 2 first before continuing.

I'm taking Engineering and right now in Year 3 semester 3. All the core subjects requires a thorough understanding of Control Systems which is covered in my Year 2 Semester 2 that I have yet to take.

Right now I'm going to the exam hall to face my judgment laugh.gif

simplfied:
if you transfer on 1st smster; wats the cost?

if you transfer later; wats the cost too?

About holiday; its not a issue here, as you have to long summer holiday after you are done.

if financial issue is problem; its better you hold back from my point of view. From general Australian perspective; things are getting more pricey than expected.Import goods; daily groceries all goes up as the reverse of dollar gone bad. rclxub.gif
