Haha. Both a gain and a loss I guess.
Got a cheap price from the dealer then, he said that the offer only lasts till end of September.
*
hmm im not sure but usually they got this free on-roads offer so that usually saves u about 1k-2k right?? and from my experience usually the offers all hover around that figure....like they give u fleet price but no free on roads.....give u rebates but no free on roads n etc.....

but holden's current deal seems quite attractive....99cents fuel cap.....but now that the oil price is dropping....mayb its not that useful.....but still pump prices arent as low as the world crude oil prices....damn! vmad.gif vmad.gif

huh?! well ive been to sydney twice....twice oso nth to do.....damn boring...how about that?! oh im from monash uni....VIC....

Added on October 19, 2008, 10:10 amwell it can get personal when it comes to syd vs melb rivalry thing...well ive got affected too... melb is much better when it comes to events....alot of stuffs are held here...say the race that stops the nation..Melb Cup, Aussie Open, the 1st grand slam event of the year, Australian F1 GP, 1st event of the F1 calander usually....what else ah?

oh the transport system, city layout trumps sydney's anytime....cheaper too....it has a more European feel to the city as well...no Cronulla racist rubbish....beaches are safe (no jellyfish / shark attack bullcrap), home to the AFL but at the same time can still teach those NSW fellas the right way to play rugby league (Melb Storm has kicked NSW / Qld teams assess for so many times i cant even remember and the sport is not even a fav here!)....biggest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere is over here too....chadstone....

i think the night life here is better, as u should know how the whole melb shuffle started from here...u dont hear no 'sydney opera house shuffle' ever do u? rolleyes.gif

yes alot depends on the individual......and also ur personal definition of 'lively'.....

been to sydney twice = you dont stay in syd long enough so...

in terms of events..we have interesting+cheaper events...google up lah

in terms of city layout...you cant blame cuz sydney is found earlier than melb...so it it not as well planned as melb...

in terms of night life...its about the person you are with...not pub crawling etc

for the examples of what i say google up lah
crown...thats if you really want to gamble all the time lah...if u have luck you can win money anywhere...my friend won in that small jupiter casino in surfers paradise...

probably we need to stay in all these places long enough...to know whats around

dem, forgot my australian history...
The first fleet arrived in Port Stephens in 1788, led by Capt James Cook. Thats why they have this Australia Day and Aboriginals celebrate Black day on the same day. Ehem, so yeh, Sydney was found first.

Wah, rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne. Sydney's pretty much the most expensive place to study in whole Australia lah. The only state that doesnt give international students concession rate on transportation, I think. Im tired of paying the full fares.
*
eh u sure boh.....these VIC state govt oso never giv concession1......if one day i get PR or work here i srsly wanna file tax return....more like concession return.....coz their reason behind locals getting concessions coz they are future tax payers.....knnbccb..... vmad.gif vmad.gif

then subsidize all the ang moh young ppl here....then when they come of age ready to work....all go middle east....so much for calling them future tax payer....paying tax to those arab sheikhs got lar.....whu cares bout ruddy 07...

QUOTE(Sesshoumaru @ Oct 19 2008, 10:28 AM)
Sydney... hmm... felt overrated with it. I agree that Melbourne City is smaller, but it is way more organised. Sydney is like a big mess, didn't really fancy it coupled with the outrageous transport cost like literally forcing you to get weekly or monthly tics. Kudos to Metlink 2 hour/daily zone 1,2 system although there are talks regarding it gonna be so breaking down soon. I must give it up to Sydney for having a slight edge in food with Hurricane and Seoul etc. or maybe I'm just biased being sick of what there is in Melbourne.

And scenery... well. Not really a fan although I did like Darling Harbour and Opera house. I felt Crown was livelier than Star but I guess this was a timing thing perhaps considering I've been to Crown Casino countless of time and only twice in Star.
*
is that the place for the prok ribs stuff?? the one somewhere in that darling harbour place? unsure.gif unsure.gif unsure.gif

Yeah, it is, but so does the whole country (and most parts of the Western world for that matter).
bhypp's view of Sydney and Melbourne is extremely biased. Cronulla was a one-off event and you can't use that to support your claim that racism is rife in Sydney. It is not. Racism is not an issue in major cities in Australia. If anything, Sydney is the most culturally-diverse city in Australia.

Btw, this thread is turning into Kopitiam-styled discussions.
*
well i admit it was biased....coz im from melb never a sydney resident, only been there for a short while only....

but then again....im not saying that sydney is a racist city...well if u guys can recall i said sydney's reputation is tarnsihed by that incident...and with that in comparison melb is better as we havnt got any issues along the racial lines....well at least never as big or as notorious as cronulla.....so in that case sydeny - 1, melb - 0, so judging by that thing alone...can i not say melb is better?

well glad taht u reason it out and i seriously appreciate it.... notworthy.gif notworthy.gif sorry for my ignorant posts before as some sydney siders started it off and what i did was just like a knee jerk reaction to it....i mean i did put up points about things melb hav to offer but i got those go google it up urself kinda reply....this is a discussion / Q&A thread so it is really distasteful when someone does that...and esp when they are saying sth bad about melb.....

I'm living in Sydney. I wouldn't defend any place I live in. Not Malaysia not Sydney. Why? None of them is perfect.

I don't think majority of Malaysians will defend Malaysia like you said.

The reason I'm saying whatever I had said in my previous post is summarized by Ver (read quote below)
It's a matter of personal preference for one to choose where to live in.
*
well i think ur totally off the line here...its studying in aus thread very clearly stated here and of course we wont to into defending each ones hometown....very clearly not relevant...and whos not opening theirs eyes now? din even get the thread right and now u wan us to so called open their eyes?! doh.gif doh.gif

anyway another thing about opening eyes....yes seeing / getting exposed is one thing but that doesnt mean one's brain can interpret / understand things exactly the same...what im trying to say is even if we all are able to see the big picture / not being ignorant but our opinions will be different still....and what's so bad about having and open discussion here....or as u put it...quarreling over here....yes it may get heated sometimes , but thats all part of the discussion.....

it seems like ur carrying over this Msian attitude of not talking things over and just sweep everything under the rug....when theres a disagreement....we should sort it out...discuss...not just all keep quiet and let the tension build in the background as the issue is not even being talked over....let alone getting solved....

and u would only defend sth when its perfect?! good luck then...i dont think u will be defending anything in ur life ever again as nth in life is perfect....but for me....i take msia as a whole its good stuff and its imperfection too...whatever bad things goin on in the country is not the country's fault but the ppl running it or living in it....as for Melb of course its far from perfect....its streets was littered with mob boss, stupid useless non-concession public transport....its shit weather...and its lack of sense australian-ness.....not even like a cosmopolitan city as in the streets there are 5:1 ratio of asians to non asians...but still i like it here...

erm for more info about public transport in melb....go to metlinkmelbourne.com.au....there u can find alot about the PT....it also includes turn by turn navigation instruction if u wanna go to somewhere new....

zone 1 zone 2 stuff basically just divided the region of the city and its suburbs into 2 zones....zone 1 is the inner city and zone 2 are the fringe suburbs....so tickets are all sold according to zones....and its more expensive to travel across the zones....as that indicates ur travelling over longer distance so more exp.....but if ut travelling within the zone...its one flat rate....no matter where u go within the zone...

oh yea bout berwick...ive only been there once...but saying from memory....its quite a modern campus.....but its pretty small...and its like very country feel to it....coz on my way there theres huge open lands.....paddocks n etc....unlike the inner suburbs where u got houses n more houses....

quite a few ppl stay in clayton but travel to berwick everyday coz the clayton campus has thing shuttle bus thing....used to be free but now have to pay i heard.....forgot how much....but its sorta like 30mins bus ride from clayton....so it isnt too bad....as u will be living at the main campus so get to mingle with everyone else instead of u know far out in berwick with few frens
