Hey guys, I've seen you all saying a 1.5 ft plastic guppy tank would be enough to house a WW. How exactly do you measure the 1.5 ft?

So now im collecting my money to buy a new tank and some more accessories.Oh yea,how you guys make your hammy fat fat???

Feed a lot of vege and fruits. But make a slow introduction lar so that your hamsters don't get diarrhea.

Feeding Uncle Taro's nutri-smoothie also helps make hamsters chubby.

I notice that good quality dry food also helps them gain weight.

How long you ever left the hamster alone? Is it ok to leave them alone few days with lots of dry food supply? And water of course..?

Yeah, it's ok. Just don't give wet food supply can liao.

I've left my hamster alone for about a week before, still lots of food not eaten lol!

Bottle too of course, 1 full bottle can last a long time but not very healthy...just use it to water your plants or something.

Syrians generally eat double of dwarfs by the way.
And if you leave some hams too long they forget about you so keep that in mind. Make sure it still recognizes your smell before you start playing with it again.

I left my hams for about 4 days and left them 2 bowls worth of dry food each with a full bottle of water. They survived ok and still recognized me when I came home.

"Forget about you" haha.. then have to start taming them again.. Not a bad idea just to put MORE dry food for them, just in case they are too hungry one day LOL

How you guys play with your hamsters?

I generally scoop up my hamster with the food bowl, or get my mom to catch it (my hamster is a really slinky thing...she slips my grasp)...

And then I'll pet her to death

My parents will take turns petting her and letting her walk on our hands. Since she is hard to catch, we just cup her in our hands most of the time.

Hamsters will usually keep moving and wiggle out. Very soft, and very fun

I used to have a hamster tame enough to run everywhere without getting lost, and never bites. It was a syrian though, bigger and less quick.

Bean, the hamster, doesn't like to be out of the tank for long though. I can actually feel her heartrate and breathing shooting through the roof in my hands and sometimes she'll nip...so we will then put her back.

well...actually i feel the wheel is quite good..smooth & quiet..

i 'm jus not very happy v that house(tat hole)..hard to watch our hammie..

mayb ur WW are not big enough..when they are big mayb 'll be better..

I have a Winter Normal hamster...whatever that means...coz I can't find them online.

this is an interesting question... i play with my hamster everyday, there is no time to get bored, coz everytime they will show their cuteness...
for ww, i will let him go out from cage, put in my bed, then let him explore my room (make sure there is no hole/wire)
for my robo, will put my hand as a ladder for them to walk..

@aeon: I think that just means you have winter white hamsters. Pet shops like to create fancy names.

@soul: Well, I just get my hamsters to climb on my hand. That step is very important because that probably determines how tame your hamster is. Then when they get on my hand, I just pet them and brush them with a toothbrush. I am still trying to get them to do tricks but Roche don't get anything besides "hang" and Ferro just looks at the treat.

LOOK at the treat?! XD

That is pure lulz, Jamien. Pure lulz. I've not met a single hamster who just look at a treat.

Yea..hate the house..Btw, i removed the stairs also, no point putting coz he cant climb.
So i will remove the food container to peek on him then put back..lol
