The stick or chew bar mentioned is basically a chew toy. wooden chew sticks and those like that.

You can try using it but it does not necessary solve your problem. If your hamster is only teething then providing a chew toy can help solve the problem.

But if your hamster is chewing because it likes the taste of metal, like many hamsters do, then it cannot be solved with a chew toy. Only changing to a tank will solve your problem.

biggrin.gif BTW, Roche had her first heat yesterday. I took her out of the cage and plopped her on my brother's shoulder yesterday night. Then he was stroking her when he said "something smells bad". Roche never smelt bad so I picked her up and smelled her. Then there was a horrid musty smell... It stuck on my hands even after i wash with detergent.
*
Wow!! First heat!! rclxms.gif But will it be a bit late for Roche to have her first heat as she is more than 3 months old by old? hmm.gif Our Kiko is having her first heat when she is about 4 weeks old if I don't remember wrongly. Maybe she is having her heat before and you didn't notice yet. rolleyes.gif

A small 100 ml bottle is more than enough. Just get one that doesn't leak ok? Or the one that comes with habitrail cages is good too.

smile.gif Basically small size bottles lar.

tongue.gif BTW what breed are you interested to get?

Still thinking if I really want to get dwarf hammies hmm.gif Because I am waiting fatsoso too, if there will be a future batch (of course not putting fatso in the habitrail mini laugh.gif ) Considering robos.. I know they are quick, but they are the only species that likes to be in group..

blush.gif If you like to pet and cuddle your hamster, I suggest you get a syrian.

Dwarves like robos are small and quick. They're harder to tame and are more challenging. happy.gif But feels very satisfying whn you tame them enough to all climb into your hand at one time.

She means robos, ander. My hand tamed robos are usually ok with strangers but will be more cautious then when I handle them myself.

Of course getting a fatsoso is good but other syrians don't hurt either. happy.gif I don't regret getting my Ferro and Roche. If you can't wait then get from pet shack.

And I'm quite sure yesterday was Roche's first heat. I handle her everyday and that's the first time I smell something that bad from her. shakehead.gif

Jamien,

I remember I read somewhere and Hun has said that in about 4 weeks females will have their first heat. Maybe you didn't smell it when she had her first? Or something wrong with Roche till until 3 months old only have heat? Better bring to vet if like that sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

They won't smell too bad if you didn't smell them closely within 3cm. The smell will go bad if you stroke her when she is on heat. Real bad smell. sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

@Jamien

I keep my Hamsters in my room, so i sorta need the ventilation (or is it ok? @@) plus the old aquarium i have is too big. Its abit hard to find standing wheels in Penang so i'm not sure how to place a wheel inside. Also those two like to climb on the wires, so i tot they kinda enjoyed the wires @@.

Hmm... maybe you should consult an ENT doctor, bad nose to the extend can't smell anything is dangerous, will not know the food whether spoiled or still good... sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif
