The PS3 hardware just run the game software and if the game developer doesn't allow screen capture from within the game, there is nothing the PS3 hardware can do. I think most games reviewers just capture the game video via external video capture device, not from within PS3. This post has been edited by danmooncake: Nov 10 2008, 12:24 AM |

I've a few newbie questions, and my ps3 is a SG 80gb set.
1. I can't seems to be able to have more than one PSN account. If I tried to log in using another account, it will prompt "you cannot log on using another person's account". I tried to use another user to log on to PS3 but I it does not have the option for me to create another PSN logon. Please tell me what can I do. 2. I cannot download any patch but I have no problem downloading firmware update. Why is that so ah? |

1: You CAN create PSN IDs for other users. Just scroll to the PSN Sign Up Icon. If it's visible for the user called "User" just create another one. It always works.
2:Patches need the games to be inserted for them to register that there's a patch and begin downloading. |

thank you. I've solved problem #1. will try again for #2.
If I want to play multiplayer games, how do I do it? It is like PC games, where someone will host and the rest will join? or it is like a arena where I am freely to join or host games? Added on November 10, 2008, 11:38 amI have another question, does the PSN id have to the same region as the game in order to download any patches/updates? currently my PSN id is in US, but my games are Region 3. QUOTE(danmooncake @ Nov 10 2008, 12:19 AM) Ha! What the heck is a 'normal' tv? Is there an abnormal one? "normal" tv is just another name for Standard Definition Television (SDTV), which falls into the resolution support category of 480p (NTSC) or 576i (PAL), as opposed to High Definition Television (HDTV). Any television that can support resolution from 720p (720 lines, top to bottom progressive) up to 1080p is categorized as HDTV.Added on November 10, 2008, 12:23 am I think screen capture support is the responsibility within the software game itself not the PS3 unit. Your PS3 will hit problem if you play the game on SD resolution (480p/576i). No problem with LCD TV resolution (720p above). You need HDMI cable to support 720p and above. The game description says its Format: PAL (UK Standard) Can i play this game on my 80G ps3 malaysia ver which is NTSC-j format? What Zala said is right. You have to embed the subs first.Unless you use VLC under Linux, then it may be possible to use softsubs. I am not entirely certain it'll work however. |

SSJBen,
Is there a significant difference between 1080i and 1080p resolution setting ? (for game and bluray movie effect with HDMI cable attached) My TV only support up to 1080i. Not too sure if 1080p carry a major difference compared to 1080i. |

Its a more subjective matter comparing 1080i to 1080p.
There certainly are some that don't see much of a difference or atleast enough of a difference to get a 1080p HDTV over a 720p/1080i HDTV. For me personally, its significant only when I'm watching 1080p content on a front-viewing projector. Over a 100" of 1080p goodness, and that will be a significant difference over 1080i or 720p. |

Which means it's only noticeable when you're playing in a larger view ? I guess you're right, it's hard to notice the differences with rough eyes. I believe there is slightly a difference but can't judge the differences with our naked eyes. I've personally tested resolution between 720p & 1080i(HD Ready), and it does significant though.

"What type of audio input can your receiver handle? Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, PCM 5.1, PCM 2.0, Dolby TruHD, DTS-HD, DTS-HD Master, DTS, etc. Those are many common formats for DVD and Blu-ray movies. You need to manually adjust the PS3's digital optical audio output to include DTS 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1. That should be it after that. Set your receiver to input which ever port you are using for your optical cable. If you are using port 1 then make sure you set the input to port 1.
Just know that you aren't going to get Dolby TruHD or DTS-HD Master output out of the PS3. It will encode those formats on the fly to Dolby Digital (or Dolby Digital Plus) or DTS depending on the lossless format used (ie TruHD can only be encoded to other Dolby soundtracks and the same goes for DTS)." is it true? so if i am using the optical cable, and the bluray disc only support Dolby TruHD, i can still enjoy Dolby Digital 5.1 sound?( my amp does not support Dolby TruHD but Dolby Digital) This post has been edited by yujin86: Nov 11 2008, 04:34 AM |

Yup. I'm using a 5 year old HITB system which only supports DD5.1 and DTS.
No problem there |
