Make a folder named PS3 in your usb drive. Then inside PS3 make another folder named UPDATE. Put the update data inside UPDATE. The PS3 will find it.

Please make sure:

1. Your USB drive is formatted as FAT32
2. These folders and subfolders exists:
PS3
---> UPDATE
3. Put your PS3UPDAT.PUP file into the PS3\UPDATE folder. E.g. F:\PS3\UPDATE\

Hmmm... If windows allowed you to format to NTFS only, chances are your drive is already in FAT32

What file format is your USB drive using now?

A question I keep forgetting to ask.

Since PS3 Controller is using rechargeable battery, and that we cannot remove/replace the battery, what should we do after few years when the battery starts fading???

I don't wanna treat it as a consumable it's too expensive. And would be a problem if we still want to play it after like 10 years?

The lithium ion battery in the DS3/SIXAXIS can be changed, all you need to do is of course buy the the right size battery and just reconnect it back. Nothing too hard....

Of course after 10 years, you might as well buy a new one.

I think 10 years later, we'll be playing PlayStation 4, and DS3/SIXAXIS will be an obsolete item by then.

Probably by then, we all will be using holographic control mechanism (like Minority Report or 007:Quantum of Solace)

Maybe no more numbering scheme.

Maybe it's called PS Omega, something like that, or Sony Omega.... you never know

I think most likely within 2-3 years of continuous use, the DC3 controller may even lose it sensitivity and break before
the battery loses it charging capability. Just buy a new controller.. it is perhaps even cheaper than replacing the battery by then.

I think by end of next year. .Sony may come up with a new controller that is also motion sensitive like the Wii.

Yeah... I heard that news(rumour). They said Sony already patented the design. The controller can be detached to act like a Wii controller.

The catch is, don't put so much high hope on it whether the controller is even practical for use or not.
