Hi guys I'm planning to buy a PS3 VERY VERY soon. I'm thinking of the Malaysia set..but it's almost impossible to get one OTHER than sony style. My question is - what do the sifus here think of the SG set? Any particular problems or is the MY set just better because of the warranty?
Thanks in advance.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Oct 3 2008, 12:15 AM) Its how its built. The PS3's browser doesn't work well with XML, Java and even flash(although flash has been vastly improved since 2 years ago). So yea thats how it goes. You cannot download FF to the PS3 however. We can only hope if there will be a PS3 version of Google Chrome since Sony and Google seems to have a rather nice partnership now. PS3 Malaysian Official set available here at PS Zone: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/470450Thanks ben. Anyone else have any input? Basically if I register my PS3 online it doesn't matter which region it's from?

Hi guys, so basically the background download function works like the 360 one? I can just initiate the download, turn off the console and walk off?

Well that's what I'm doing now...I have 2 accounts, and freely sign into one or the other depending on who has the better downloads.

So by the way, Live@Playstation - how do I start contributing to folding? Do I need to join a team first?

I find downloading updates VERY slow compared to the 360's updates. I turn off everything except the PS3 and Router, still slow.

My PS3 is connected directly to the router via LAN cable.Still slow. Maybe it's bloody streamyx.

QUOTE(merk @ Oct 13 2008, 09:04 AM) Hi all, Asking this Q on behalf of a fren, he just bought a SG set and trying to register online. When he is at asia.playstation.com, does he choose SG? And if he does, does he need a singapore address to register? Tks Yeah he has to choose SG, and yes, he needs a valid SG address. For mine, I just indicated that I "received as a gift" so that would probably iron out any questions with receipts. BTW, it's not PSN. It's streamyx. I have to cycle between 20 reconnections just to get a stable IP sometimes.

If your cousin is in the pic, then I help j/k
Best is to look for the 80GB Malaysian set - CECHK06 Comes with 1 year warranty from Sony Malaysia
Otherwise there's always the 40GB Asian set, the 80GB SG set....
Expect to pay RM 13xx - RM 15xx

Could it be the cable? Sometimes it's loose, or the cable is of poor quality. Otherwise, check the reso options - start at the lowest, and see if there's any difference. I use a 32" Philips LCD, no such problems.

Hope your TV issues go away tho.

COMPOSITE cables - Red (audio) White (audio) Yellow (video)
S VIDEO - ONE Black cable
COMPONENT - Red,Green,Blue - Video, Red, White - Audio
HDMI - ONE black cable, flat flat a bit
WHY HDMI? Simple. Maximum resolution. Are you sure you using an LCD TV? At least component mesti ada.

Nope. Just more hassle in case you need to claim warranty. My set is a SG set, CECHK06 same as MY set. Luckily I have a SG friend willing to share his address so I can register for warranty.
