I'm planning to get an aircond for my living room. Living in small terrace house, with approximately 160 sqft in the living room, connected to kitchen, but got some arch-type pathway in between. Will close all other rooms' doors & blinds at the front.

I live in Kangar, Perlis, thus the weather is really hot & unforgiving. So after doing some research, I've decided to get a non-inverter 1.5 hp aircond. My daily usage would be like this:

5 hrs every weekdays from 7pm-12am
~12 hrs every weekend from 12pm-12am

So which brand I should get? Many people say York, some say Panasonic?

Thanks for helping out.

PS - With my current average electricity bills around ~RM40, after getting this aircond, how much is the increment you guys think?

Guys, need help here.

I'm planning to install an aircond in my new house. Especially in the living room + dining hall combined together.

So, is 2.0HP aircond is good enough to get necessary cooling? Fyi, the total area for the area is 31ft x 14x = 434sqft.

I plan to just turn it on:

8pm-12am (4hrs) during weekdays
2pm-12am (~11hrs) during weekend

Maybe not everyday. Let say on a particular day, it's not that hot, then I will not turn on the aircond.

Another question: Should I get inverter or non-inverter type? I've been hearing that using inverter but having shorter time consumption will not save your bill in the long run.

So, i'm kinda confuse here. Kindly help. Thanks!

Ok guys, need input from you on my aircond calculation:

So I plan to buy:
1x 1HP Panasonic - in master bedroom (15 x 12 ftsq)
1x 2.5HP Panasonic - in living room (25 x 12 ftsq)

All are using inverter technology. Also, the height of my house is 11 ft.

So base on the following calculation:

0.76kW x 8hr x 30d = 182.4kW = 182.4 x RM0.40 (assuming it's the current rate) = RM73

inverter
Panasonic 2.5HP - living room

1.9kW x 8 x 30 = 456kW = RM182.40

Total = RM255.40
Assuming 35% saving from Panasonic's website = RM255.40 - RM90 = RM165.40
plus with my other utilities ( fridge, tvs, etc) = RM165.40 + ~RM45 = ~RM210.40

Is this calculation correct?

Thanks sifus! smile.gif

1HP might not sufficient for your room size, furthermore ceiling height is 11ft, one of my room slightly smaller than ur room size, I am using 1.5HP Pana inverter, feel it is just nice

True, but I will install a wardrobe that will occupy some 2ft from the width. So will make the room become smaller, although not very significant. tongue.gif

In theory yes. But in practical use, no. You are calculate in full hp running. But actual running is in vary speed.

So this means the actual average monthly bill might be LOWER than what I've been calculating? Furthermore, I'm not really gonna use the aircond in whole 30days. Maybe certain day I will use <8hrs or maybe just using fan during cold weather. smile.gif

Let say if I try to make the living room more darker + cooler eg. putting some heavy windows tinting ( I won't get trouble from local authorities right? Like heavy tinting on our car windows, later kena summon by JPJ tongue.gif ) + installing really thick, dark colored curtains would help a lot in making the room cooler; less load for the aircond to run no?
