A few questions to ask

I have been charging my HLB card to help my company buy air ticket mainly Cathay Pacific. Is there any card out there that give more benefit when buying Cathay Pacific air ticket by using it?

Does paying your credit card before the statement arrive affect your credit reputation?
eg: charge rm2k pay back 5 days later, in the end your statement have only a few hundreds to settle.

I don't think so it helps much as I think all the bank does is to check whether you do pay your dues on time and the quantum of your payments/spendings. Credit card does provide a "temporary delay" to pay for your purchases while providing a means of not carrying cash around - I suggest you to just capitalise on this convenience and it works to your benefit if you manage your finances well.

I believe it is like up to 3 weeks. If you want it faster, walk over to the bank in Menara Citibank and they can have the card in 1 hour.

I thought they have to look through documents and see whether to approve or not? So fast 1 hour?

3weeks is ok for me if I'm not rushing to buy a ticket, I guess now I have to forget about it and just buy my ticket before the promo period ends than waiting for that card, not like I'll definitely get approve

For citibank, this is from my experience

Evening of Day 1: Fax the credit card form + photocopy of IC + photocopy of current credit card
Noon of Day 2: Agent call saying approved
Noon of Day 3: Went to Menara Citibank and got my card. Could have got it done on Evening of Day 2 but I'm not free then

If you want I can give you the contact number of the agent. Quite good service smile.gif

You already have current credit card, that's why it takes so fast. For new application, normally it would takes up to weeks.

New applicants always take longer time to process as unproven credit history etc. Every bank also more or less the same

Take the Platinum card if the benefits are something that U feel U'll make use; access to airport lounge, etc.  If U don't need it then forget it.  Citibank will always send u card upgrades - now that ur oredi a Gold CC cardholder, when they do send u another upgrade, it will always be for the Platinum [it makes no sense to upgrade a Gold cardholder to a Classic Silver, right?!] wink.gif

I guess I must be doing something wrong with Citibank, I've been a Citibank customer for 3+ years and no upgrades offered biggrin.gif

btw, when you request for the annual fee waiver, do you see the amount credited right away? It's been 2+ weeks and I don't see it on my MBB card.

Same thing with me ... Citibank very slow @ this till I gave up and ran away.

The annual fee waiver for MBB will be waived @ the point of your billing cycle. So, if nothing by then ... call them up. If they don't want to waive then just say goodbye to them and cancel the card !

It should not be a problem , give it a try on local bank cc, as approval are easier.

@ICDeadPeople,
Are people boycotting MBB?! Now that's not something I'm aware of but then again, I've been on the move so much I haven't been able to keep up with U guys here.  On the contrary, I'm boycotting Citibank!

Out of curiousity, did they give u a big margin of CL increase?  [I think I'm still bitter over the fact that Citibank gave me an upgraded card but reduced my CL!]
*
Well, I saw afew post that said they are boycotting maybank. Similar like you, I have no clue at all.
They do give increase in CL, around 6k extra.

So far among all my cards, Citibank give me the highest credit limit, which is still increasing.... rclxm9.gif Because of this alone, I cancel lots of other cards. Lets just say my Citibank card absorbs all of them. laugh.gif Now I only have my Citi and MBB.

I know different card have different perks, discounts blah, etc...but this only encourage spending which is not good. I know that because I have bought many things I do not need just because during a certain promotion period, they have discount this and that. Not to forget that it actually dilutes your reward points.

The force is not with you...

Keep applying new card is the fastest way to increase credit limit without having to fax them a shit.

4k SBB -> 9k HSBC -> 13k Citi -> 18k Alliance in 2 years... but think again, do we really need all these... I just couldnt stand persistant sales girls nagging me while Im pumping petrol or eating...

Haha maybe that's what it is. I pay on time, spend close to 6 figures in a year but since they started me out with a pretty big credit limit I hardly ever come close to it and don't plan to go anywhere close to the limit...

Speaking of MBB credit card annual fee waiver. I currently own a MBB AMEX Gold Credit Card and just about 2 weeks ago i found out that MBB recently introduced a new credit card range called "Ikhwan" and it is free for life as long as you swipe the card 12 times/pa which i am sure is a piece of cake to everybody. Now i am thinking to convert my MBB Gold AMEX Credit Card to the MBB Ikhwan AMEX Gold Credit Card. I don't want to call their CS every year just to ask for fee waiver because it is such a waste of time.

It is based on your gross salary, which means your "gaji pokok".
