I went to Carrefour for shopping and pay with Maybank CC, I was surprised coz using Maybank CC has 5% discount on all items. The rebate on Tuesday is 10%. But one card member only entitled to max RM50 per month, better than nothing, right? Anyway, it is a great saving also which I wish to share with those who dunno about it.  rclxms.gif
*
Where you get the info from? Limit to RM50 per mth, so its like RM5 off, right? So I guess its like Maybank taking a cue from Citibank in respect of its Giant Card but half heartedly, isn't it?

i prefer citibank as i travel alot and no need to inform the bank where the country i will visit. hassle free. I also have maybank visa..will terminate it after finishing my installment plan.
*
Me also just terminated my Maybank card. The service is so bad, its totally unbelievable. They are the equavalent of Drama Minggu Ini over at RTM once upon a time. If the market becomes more open with the encroachment of globalisation, their days are most definitely numbered.

{But I do agree all banks Customer Service sucks.
MBB = Malaysia Boleh
SCB = Refer my horror story here
Citibank = Always sell out my data to tele-marketeers
HSBC = Recently just got the CC, immediately the next day, tele-marketeers call to ask for home loan
doh.gif

My opinion is as long as it is local ppl serving you for classic/gold, you'll get the same type of service. Maybe platinum/preferred/higher up will have better service (I hope!)}

hmm.gif Not surprised to read about your horror story at Std Chart and I do recall some moments with them as well. Luckily it turned out ok after somewhile. But if you think platinum or preferred services are any better, you are just a little right. To share a little of my experience :-

HSBC Premier - Normally one phone call does it
SCB Priority - Calls and fax normally does it but a little slow at times
RHB Infinity Banking - Calls, fax, physical presence at times required
Maybank Private Banking - Calls? Good music though. Response very very slow. Even took over 1 month to get back on loan application amongst other

UOB Midas Club - Heard from friends very good but not experience before. Anyone care to share?

{FYI, Flex is one of the 2nd cards (if not 3rd/4th) to offer free for life*** without the need to call up the bank to ask/beg for waiver every year. This is followed by Citibank Choice, and the rest of the story. There is no best card, it always change depending on your lifestyle and offer/promotion given. So, who's the monkey here?

Actually, DA is the first to offer free for life without condition whistling.gif

*** but must swipe 2x / mth}

Yeap, DA is the first followed by the rest of the monkeys thumbup.gif

Hey, there's absolutely no comparision at all.

Btw, anyone went for the Maybank Treat Fair back in August? Did anyone notice that Maybank staff were actually jacking up the price of the so called 1 Treat Point auction? Best of all, some of them so moronic, still wearing the Maybank staff tag while bidding up the price. Now, that's Maybank for you hmm.gif

citibank really am good at issuing cards. esp the one hour deal..

i got my clear card like in less thn two hours. but i couldnt collect it as i am working.. the point is thy really process it fast. the free gifts thy will send over to my place 3-4 weeks later..

hsbc.. i am not sure.. wats the earliest u guys got the card?

another thing.. i enquired how thy set the credit limit. its usually 2x or 3x the monthly income.. but whn i got my clear card. its barely 2x my salary.. its only 1.5..  is it becaue i did it through the one hour thing?so thy jus lower my CL?
*
Actually its more aline to your disposable income ..... thus the higher your pay, the x factor can increase significantly

CRIS report also affects your ratings ie. the more cards plus other loans (combine credit) you have in relation to your income will also impact you significantly

so does it add to the multiplier? if u hv more loans or more cards? or it reduces?

i am thinking of both ways.. the bank would want u to borrow more. so the multiplier is higher.

and thy lower the multplier.. because the CC holder is a risky customer..?

thanks guys,.

Added on September 10, 2008, 5:43 pmmy friend doesnt hv any load and its his first CC.. similar to my case... stil dont understand how thy issue out the CL.

To eleborate a little more, its not that simple but some indicators are as follows :-

i) joint loan or guarantor also affects you as CRIS lists it 100% for all parties ie. no apportionment
ii) age, education, position also a factor
iii) credit history, if any ie. personal loans etc
iv) fd, savings with the bank concern also helps
v) marketing plan of the bank at times

and many more factors as well. Differs from bank to bank

i think the debit card is the good option for credit card
ive credit card before 3 of them and had shut them all now
with debt reach 10k i dont want to spend more
im happily using my debit card now without worry of having any debts.

then my fren from maybank say, why must I shut those 3 credit cards
he said I might need it in case of emergency,
yeah2..every second then will be emergency if credit card is in my wallet.

so now what I plan is that, save more to my saving account for emergency purposes.
and most of all , I want to make sure that I can access this account via internet or call.

this year is a year to bye bye credit card and debts. huhuhuhu

Savings is always the BEST but sometimes go overseas, govt regulation forbids bring out too much money, susah lah... further duit sudah masuk debit card, susah keluarkan balik, right? hmm.gif
