Just received my CIMB Mastercard Paypass CC few days back.

Should there be anything I should be aware of (bad or good)?
*
Nothing at all. Just treat it like any other credit card - if there's anything you should be worried about then no point it being a product for the public.

@shamsay
Yes ... you either pay via
1. Another Citibank account
2. Cheque (Mail, Drop-in @ Citibank)
3. Cash (Cash machine @ Citibank)

I think the most likely option would be the 1st one if truely no charge @ all. All other options will incur you some form of expenses. (e.g Cheque stamp duty, postage or even petrol to drive to Citibank)

think of cancalling my citibank cc now

Just have to spend some money on stamps and the trip to the mail box. If you look @ your monthly statement, there's a portion that is detachable on the upper side of the first page of your statement. (If I remember it correctly)

Insert that detached portion into the envelope provided in the statement. And off it goes ! Actually it's quite simple to pay any credit card bills these days if you use the GIRO facility.

..... Alternatively you can send the cash via me as I got account in Citibank. Hahaha smile.gif

I think it got something to do with the current promotion. (A car) 2x points for a limited time but I'm unsure of the full details.

got called from somebody claim to be maybank that offer some backup card..i can;t see the phone number due to "withheld"..and when she asked about my expired date for my credit card and i said i will go to maybank branch for verification and she just hang up without any thanks
*
I get these type of calls very often. Always they will say that they are calling from VISA / Mastercard card centre or anything similar like that and they say that they wish to verify my existing credit card. IMHO -

- If they are your bank, they would know your card details. More likely they would ask to confirm your personal particulars instead of your credit card numbers / expiry date or worst still CVV.
- They would not hesitate / drop the line if you challenge them that you want to go to the nearest branch / which branch they are calling from.
- They would identify themselves as from the bank that you have your credit card with instead of VISA / Mastercard card centre / International.

David83 is right ... sometimes the bank will call from an Unknown number or the number would not display the actual number (just the main contact number and not the caller's personal number). No problem but a REAL bank would not sound so fishy when it comes to asking your personal information.

Best to educate card holders / readers of this forum as not to fall prey to such scams.

@David83,
Yes ur def right; btw I went through the TP PDF - nothing much that's too interesting on it.  Anyhow, am wondering can we also just purchase the products at the TP if we don't have sufficient TP points?

And, how is this Fair going to benefit the public if they aren't existing MBB CC holders?
*
@tinkerbel
Some items have those "express" options where a combination of TP and cash can be used. Still you need to have the minimum TP before you can buy anything.

Just outside the hall there'll be a MBB booth where presumably you can apply for a MBB card for those without one! If you could find the layout plan, you can clearly see that there's a MBB card counter right outside the hall and nearby would be the police "saman counter."

I think there's this 60 minutes on-the-spot card application promo. Many years back (I think 3 years ago coz that MBB card just got canceled by me as I didn't want to pay the annual fees) ... I was given a "temporary" card which I could buy anything inside the hall and bear in mind I don't have a MBB card at that point of time. I can't remember whether I was given the card application approval after I exited from the hall or prior to entering.

The bulk of the items that will be displayed during the Fair can be bought without using TP. I think they give an option between you wanting to use your TP or cash - something like the HSBC fair a few months back. (Coincidentally it was held at the same location)

Is it the 2 week is standard apply to all bank ?
*
The right statement would be 2 weeks minimum for a typical application to be processed, approved and the card delivered. For example, one of my card took 5-6 weeks before it finally reaches me. And there was one card it took a good 2 months before it arrives. (Several years back and I have canceled this card)

Some banks are more efficient than another. I would say it depends on your luck. tongue.gif

It's a weird case for @genkis3 here, I've never encountered such oddity in my entire lifetime of card usage. What I could think of is (hypothetical guess)

- He have used the cash advance facility
- He may have inadvertently paid his card beyond the due date while keeping the 20 days interest free intact
- Some carry forward balance creeping into the current bill
- An honest mistake by the bank

The additional charges are charged directly into the individual purchases. It wouldn't have been charged separately.

I'm keen to find out the outcome of this case. Keep us posted @genkis3

Folks .... Citibank has (I think) revised their T&C for the Shell Card. (Ad theSun - 29th July 2008)

It is now 2.5% rebate on Shell fuel, 0.75% for other purchases and does not require Carry Forward balance to enjoy the rebates.

New approved cardmembers will enjoy 30 days of double rebates + the GPS Bay 3303 for only RM399

@tinkerbel

Not in the case of CIMB DA. If you applied for 2 cards then they both share the same credit limit.

Is it possible to put a limit on each auto debit, eg. I don't want my electricity bill to be more than RM200 per month, if it is then something's wrong and I don't want it to go to my credit card first.
*
Not possible to put limit in each debit (For any of those auto debit offered by the banks). Every month you will debited for the full amount that you owe to the bank and if you are worried about the billers charging you wrong then I suggest you not to take up auto debit. It will get very messy from my own personal experience.

OK

I'm referring to the back of the MBB statement under the Overseas Transactions.

".... For foreign charges converted by American Express, American Express applies a conversion factor of 1.5% to the converted amount plus 0.5% administration cost imposed by Maybank. A charge that is made in a foreign currency other than US Dollars will, when the conversion is done by American Express, be converted into US Dollars before being converted into Ringgit Malaysia."

I could have made a mistake on the 2.5% but from the statement that I'm reading on my side ... that's what it says.

Hi,

I would like to apply a credit card for my personal usage (First time). So, i need advice from you guys as which bank to apply for.

Follow are the criterias that i'm looking for.
1. No processing and anual fees (Free for life)
2. Able to make monthly payment online (via website)
3. Best if could have benefit in term of (Buy Airline ticket [AA/MAS], Petrol, MPH, Food outlets]
4. Even better if got free gift.

Thanks!
*
1. Some of the cards may say they charge you processing fees but in reality they will not. Free for life limits your scope a fair bit and I strongly suggest you to browse through the threads for the info. We had too many people asking for the shortcuts answers but we too actually took the initiative to track all these credit card promos. Do your homework ! icon_idea.gif
2. All banks can payonline or use GIRO.
3. AA cards are not free for life nor the Enrich card. (Enrich card best offer if you travel Business class) Petrol - Petronas, MPH - DA, Food outlets - so many lah!
4. Free gifts ... you just wait for fairs like MBB Treats, Matta Fair.

Conclusion - no single card fit all of your requirement. Do your research and decide what you want. (Don't be lazy to check)

Can the Citi online banking pay bill by using Citi CC?
*
In fact Citi Online pays the bill only if you have a CC with them. You can't pay your bills if you only have a Current/Savings account with them

@tinkerbel
At the time of writing, it seems that Citibank Online is inaccessible. It has been like that for @ least 30 mins before.

No announcement posted on Citibank's Malaysia site on Citibank's Online downtime.

BTW ... are you guys aware that Malaysia's Citibank Online server is actually located in Singapore?

I want to ask everyone here on their experiences on how well does their credit card provider handles their cc transactions disputes.

This year alone I had 2 disputes handled by a foreign card provider and both came out well. 1 was the case of double charging and the other was a merchant who renegades on their service delivery.

I have always felt more secure with foreign banks in this aspect but I have never had any experiences in cc transactions disputes with the local banks. Care to have the formers here relates any of their previous experiences ?
