now feeling quite regreting after updated my ps3 to 2.40.. kalau tahu there will be several problems mmg aku xkan update... tried MGS4 & GTA4 and then use the in-game XMB, quite slow compared to normal XMB..

Hope that Sony can quickly come out with the fw. 2.41 to resolve it lah...

I'm not complaining the laggy issue of in-game XMB, but instead the risk of bricking/ blackout issue facing by some of the PS3 owners Even those like me that experience no problem after upgrading fw. 2.40, but you don't know when it may explore, you know? (as claimed by some owners that after they update new fw., play first time is ok, then 2nd time just blackout without reason etc...)

Guys, you can't downgrade the firmware.

The best Sony can do to quickly resolve this problem is to re-release a 2.36 firmware masked as 2.41. This way PS3 will recognize it as new update thus allows it to be installed.

Rghit now just sit back and wait for a while, don't risk your PS3 with hours of gaming yet. Sony is sure working their ass out to fix this.

the in-game XMB is laggy if u have a large frens list and/or laggy ISP

Aiseyh, I had a feeling I shouldn't have done the update. But everyone was doing it so I thought "Oh, What the heck" . Lucky my PS3 selamat. Hmm, so seriously, for those who has 2.40 with no probs, should just let our PS3 left untouched for now?

In-game XMB is quite laggy due to small RAM footprint allocated to it. SSHD has custom soundrack before 2.40, yeah the interface is laggy. Same as Singstar's in-game messaging (XMB's Friends tab) that has been implemented a few months ago. Nothing new here.

I updated my friend's PS3 with 2.40 .... DAMN relieved it has no problems. Now that I read about this news I'm gonna hold off from updating mine.

it seems tat those who successfully upgraded the firmware will not have any problem... those who has problem are the one which hang in the midst of updating. After reset during updating, your PS3 is probably bricked if ur screen hang. Otherwise, if it is successful it shouldnt be any problem.

i updated 2.40 via XMB, and supprisingly its quite fast (maybe streamyx got happy-hour that time).. LOL

i have updated successfully and no problem so far... left my PS3 over night to download demo from PSN. Played some demos this morning. Used in-game XMB. no problems....

You are right those that are successful have nothing to worry about..those that hang only..my condolences..i updated by thumbdrive from the link Ninja gave on the first page and all ok! Mine is a new 40GB console less than 1 month old..i dono what those that hang are gonna do..if u kenot even enter XMB how u gonna update to 2.41..IF it comes out?
