cool 2.40 firmware update... it makes my PS3 faster indeed. More stable connection and faster internet speed. Now i can shut down PS3 at user profile section. No need to hold the PS button.

Scared to update to 2.40, luckily just downloaded in my USB... will hold on to the update.

Anyway last night when i tried to connect COD4 it asked me that there is a system update... how do i connect and play COD4 without installing/downloaded the latest update?

its been reverted back to 2.36 iinm...

updated yesterday , no problems ..

That's true better be safe than sorry... Sony pull back the update to 2.36 i think its kinda risky to keep 2.40

when the download bar reach 60%... all of the sudden, the console restart itself....lucky so far so good

What are the problems faced actually? I haven't stumble onto any problem (yet, if theres any) except for dc-ing out of PSN (but I think that is TM's problem)

it is highly recommended to download from PC and update using thumbdrive. U can download the firmware in 1 hour using PC. Faster and reliable.

After updating PS3 to 2.40, everything seems fine and even better in performance. Better connection.

Just download fw 2.40 from console yesterday..

So far so good, nothing problem arise (or perhaps "yet"....)

But i kinda found out that in-game XMB sometimes quite laggy a bit. Hope the later fw will resolve this minor issue.

i wonder can i blame 2.40 update for my lens dead problem?

So far ok i updated with thumbdrive..dono why Sony pulled back the firmware..hopefulyl my system does not screw up..in gma e XMB is laggy though..hope Sony will fix that.

My advice is everyone who already updated their PS3, just don't use it too much right now, or to be safe, don't use it until a new update is provided.

No need to downgrade, I'm sure Sony will release version 2.41 very soon. It could be a dummy update file as 2.41 but with 2.36 data. Or a new fixed 2.40 as 2.41.

Just be patience.
