cool 2.40 firmware update... it makes my PS3 faster indeed. More stable connection and faster internet speed. Now i can shut down PS3 at user profile section. No need to hold the PS button.

it is highly recommended to download from PC and update using thumbdrive. U can download the firmware in 1 hour using PC. Faster and reliable.
After updating PS3 to 2.40, everything seems fine and even better in performance. Better connection. This post has been edited by BlueLotus: Jul 3 2008, 11:37 AM |

it seems tat those who successfully upgraded the firmware will not have any problem... those who has problem are the one which hang in the midst of updating. After reset during updating, your PS3 is probably bricked if ur screen hang. Otherwise, if it is successful it shouldnt be any problem.

i suggest all of you to back up your save game and data into thumbdrive first. So if we need to format HD, we still have the backup to restore.

i think he meant tat if u r using 2.40 and others using 2.36, then u might get this error. In other words, incompatible firmware interfacing each other. Thus error appeared.

so it is highly possible that those who successfully updated the firmware will not have any problem. I have tried playing MGO and MGS 4 today... no problem. In fact, the connection is better than last time. More stable in PSN and never DC in MGO. Also better streaming from PC media.
The only setback is the laggy in-game XMB. |

yeah i can understand the laggy effect due to heavy load on graphic processing for both programmes running simultaneously.
