PS3 has signature checking to verify that it is from Sony, so corrupted downloads will not be installed as the downloaded firmware will fail the signature check. I use DigestIT2004 for simple md5 calc/verifying

Anyone here with StardustHD bought from USA/Asia/etc PSN? Mine is from EU PSN. I wonder if trophies for diff version/region of games can be compared against each other or not.

In-game XMB is quite laggy due to small RAM footprint allocated to it. SSHD has custom soundrack before 2.40, yeah the interface is laggy. Same as Singstar's in-game messaging (XMB's Friends tab) that has been implemented a few months ago. Nothing new here.

QUOTE(nerd @ Jul 3 2008, 06:22 PM) guys, I just bought myself a hard disk enclosure, attempting to repair my PS3 now AFAIK any OS will not recognise and mount it because PS3 internal HDD uses proprietary filesystem. However the partitions can be seen by diskmgmt.msc tool under start->run in windows machine or gparted in linux.I tried using a Linux-equipped notebook to reformat last night but can't work. Even with the enclosure, the hard disk isn't detected off the bat, you need to go under admin tools where it appears as a pool of unrecognised data, and format it from there. I wonder how bad the damage to the hard disk is, as if it can't be read off the bat, there's something seriously wrong with it. I'm documenting the process now, and if there are any requests, I'll put up a guide for it as it might come in handy in the future zz useless Sony. ask me bring my machine there go check This post has been edited by vorchiel: Jul 3 2008, 07:13 PM |

QUOTE(samurai20 @ Jul 7 2008, 01:26 AM) How u all play Stardust HD.. damn hard sial.. planet 1st sangkut lagi.. Concentrate on upgrading the rock crusher for the first planet, and gold melter for second planet. By the second/third planet, you'll probablly maxed all the weapons already (100%). Collect weapon upgrades according to your needs after reaching 100%, and it will boost the weapon to 200% rating for a short time (30 sec I think). |

Look at the URL of the update for the MD5.. Bro acougan pointed it out earlier. After downloading the file, use any MD5 checker to verify the downloaded file's MD5 against the MD5 provided in the download URL. MD5 checking tools: DigestIT, RapidCRC, etc
QUOTE(acougan @ Jul 8 2008, 03:21 PM) If the MD5 matches, it means your downloaded file is exactly same as the file on the server (not corrupted during transport/saving etc)This post has been edited by vorchiel: Jul 8 2008, 07:31 PM |

QUOTE(boris @ Jul 8 2008, 11:45 PM) Guys, I'm downloading the 2.41 from the link on the front page. What is the MD5 coz the link is a direct download link? Gonna check it once download is complete. Look properly at the direct download link and you'll find it. Right-click the URL and then "copy shortcut (IE)" or "copy link location (FF)" then paste it into notepad or something...2008_0708_67c660325b0b97acdeda6c0913dc1f74/PS3UPDAT.PUP |

To be 100% certain, fire up the PS3 proxy server, and get the correct ps3-updatelist.txt region URL that your PS3 is trying to access from the proxy log
Otherwise, just download from any mirror |
