To turn the controller turn off you need to push and hold the PS button longer.

QUOTE(BlueLotus @ Jul 3 2008, 02:41 PM) it seems tat those who successfully upgraded the firmware will not have any problem... those who has problem are the one which hang in the midst of updating. After reset during updating, your PS3 is probably bricked if ur screen hang. Otherwise, if it is successful it shouldnt be any problem. tis piece of news relieves me a bit....still hope sony comes out with 2.41 faster (a good patch, not worse lol) source: http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/07/02/sony-a...-2-40-problems/ Added on July 3, 2008, 3:46 pm QUOTE(shinchan^^ @ Jul 3 2008, 03:39 PM) guess there's no way to turn back once updated, huh? format hdd? any1 mind to share? This post has been edited by angjk: Jul 3 2008, 03:46 PM |

i suggest all of you to back up your save game and data into thumbdrive first. So if we need to format HD, we still have the backup to restore.

guys, I just bought myself a hard disk enclosure, attempting to repair my PS3 now
I tried using a Linux-equipped notebook to reformat last night but can't work. Even with the enclosure, the hard disk isn't detected off the bat, you need to go under admin tools where it appears as a pool of unrecognised data, and format it from there. I wonder how bad the damage to the hard disk is, as if it can't be read off the bat, there's something seriously wrong with it. I'm documenting the process now, and if there are any requests, I'll put up a guide for it as it might come in handy in the future zz useless Sony. ask me bring my machine there go check This post has been edited by nerd: Jul 3 2008, 06:25 PM |

still cannot. I think must wait until Sony re-releases their 2.40 or better still, 2.41. can't roll back to 2.36 because the PS3 doesn't recognize anything below 2.40 already, so I'm assuming the flash chip has already been written with 2.40 data.

none.
it just goes back to the same screen previously.. the one where it asks to reinstall the firmware by pressing Start + Select. I'm in a fix now because the 2.40 download has been taken down, and it won't accept 2.36. if I could download another fresh copy of 2.40 that might help. I would try to go to Sora's house and try out his PS3 but problem is if his PS3 formats my hard disk, his data will be gone when he puts his hard disk back into his machine. I'm in fix until Sony releases a new fix. I doubt my flash memory is corrupted. or is it? |
