Within a few days. My signed the offer letter on the same week I did my medical examination.

Hmm may I ask why you want to turn down the offer from another bank? Not trying to dissuade you from joining PBB lah.. I'm just a bit curious.

hey just wondering is the starting salary for fresh grad still RM2.8k? I got an interview for management trainee but I heard it's mostly for sales. Because I studied accounting & finance and currently working as auditor so wondering can I get a job related to my field?

Hey,may I know how long it took for you to receive the offer letter after u went for medical check up?
I went for the medical check up last week, but I have yet to receive the call from hr asking me to go to sign the offer letter. I am kinda worry now. I have turned down offer from another bank because of pbb offer.
And all the best to your future endeavor!

From my experience 3 years ago, it took like only 1 week between the first invitation for interview and until the signing of offer letter.

Just bear in mind, there's no such thing as rotation for this MT programme.

Depends on your qualifications as well. I was asked which department I wanted to be in and I answered credit. Then one week later they offered me the position.

Sorry to interrupt you

I'm not coming from finance/accounting related background, how am I supposed to know the department that available in bank when they ask me?

I only know Customer service, finance, admin, hr, and others.
Do they list the dept that during the interview.

I remembered one of my ex colleague received offer from pb and he got frontliner dept. hmm.gif

how are you supposed to know?

You ask uncle Google. Drop that mindset if you want to go far.

Is it a regular procedure for all applicants to or would shortlisted applicants receive the call only? What role did you ask for?

It’s pretty common that you’re thinking of resigning after a few months working in PBB. I started to look for other jobs during my second month there. The working culture just doesn’t suit me well la. Typical chinaman work culture, and so many red tapes that I have to face daily in order to get things done which does affect my target. What’s worse is that these red tapes weren’t there when a new female Trainee joined our branch because.. and I quote... “she a girl, so have to help her. You’re boy, no need to work so easy first. Must learn the hard way”. Yes that’s the exact sentence I heard from my Manager. What kind of mentality is that?

It’s a shame tbh because the job scope is not that bad. I’d definitely stay longer if it weren’t for the double standards in treating male and female trainees. Not to mention some of them can be pretty racist too.

Also yeah it’s pretty common for the seniors to talk behind your back. Very unprofessional.

I’m currently in one of the Big 4s doing risk advisory. Same stressful work environment but the it’s not as bad as working at PBB.

Btw can PM me which branch you’re working at?

Need to clarify that Public Bank MT is NOT prestigious! In Public Bank, a "MT" is a Executive position (i.e. Entry Level). Next rank is Senior Executive. So Management Trainee in PBB is the same as any executive entry-level position in other banks. UOB Malaysia also call their entry level staff as "Management Trainee Officer".

can't say for sure, my first time applying.. but they look eager to offer me. Sent me statutory declaration form to fill and asked me further questions. Still can't confirm though. I told them I prefer internal audit or credit analyst, but I'm open to others as long as it's not sales.

during the interview they asked me to explain what did I do during my internship and what I am doing in my current job, then asked me which department that I prefer to work in pbb. I told them I prefer internal audit and credit analyst, then they asked what do you know about internal audit and credit analyst job. Went to the interview on 3rd July

Phone calls after the interview they just asked me is it okay if I'm placed in certain departments like audit investigation or compliance, or is it okay if I work in certain branches like Sentul, Kelana Jaya etc.

looks like you are getting an internal audit or credit role with one of the branches.
Just like any other organisation, your experience with PBB really depends on the branch or dept you’re attached to. I’ve heard horror stories from certain branches as well as head office. I was lucky cause I have good, supportive colleagues and superiors in my dept. To be honest, I do enjoy my working environment and tasks given at PBB but the red tape imposed by the bank as previously mentioned by others can by bloody annoying at times. And the pay is just uhhhhhh...

All the best!

looks like they are offering, but not yet confirmed hahah. My current firm is small and pays peanut but I have very good colleagues and seniors, they are very nice people. The working culture and colleagues are actually one of my top priority besides salary. So yeah hopefully I will be placed in good dept/branch. If the culture sucks then I think I will tahan for 1-2 years, then jump ship.. which I hopefully wont do since I plan to stay for long term. As for the pay though pbb pays higher than my current firm, and there's ok increments.

If you’re looking for a good working culture/ helpful colleagues, PBB is the last place to look at. When I went for their mandatory three weeks training course, almost everyone in my cohort complained about unhelpful colleagues and rude managers. But then YMMV.

Not trying to scare you or anything, but I reckon you will have a higher chances of getting a bad branch because usually the turnover rate is really high and HR is desperate to get the vacant positions filled. unsure.gif

If that's the case I'll just have to see what position they are offering me. My top preference is internal audit, if they offer it to me I'll accept it with no hesitation. As for the bad working culture I guess I'll just have to bear with it. It's the banking internal audit experience that I'm chasing for. At least I can jump ship to better firm in a year or two.
