Within a few days. My signed the offer letter on the same week I did my medical examination.

Hmm may I ask why you want to turn down the offer from another bank? Not trying to dissuade you from joining PBB lah.. I'm just a bit curious.
*
hey just wondering is the starting salary for fresh grad still RM2.8k? I got an interview for management trainee but I heard it's mostly for sales. Because I studied accounting & finance and currently working as auditor so wondering can I get a job related to my field?

Glad to see that you resign! I’m now working in PBB branch as credit analyst also. Just my first few months I feel like resign already. All senior all like to talk back behind and doesn’t want to teach at all @@ I also plan to apply for another bank. Heard that other bank culture is not the same, which company u joining?
*
I got a few more calls from HR after interview asking me further questions and is it okay i work in this branch or that branch, looks like i'm getting the job? but so scared reading your stories haha

Is it a regular procedure for all applicants to or would shortlisted applicants receive the call only? What role did you ask for?
*
can't say for sure, my first time applying.. but they look eager to offer me. Sent me statutory declaration form to fill and asked me further questions. Still can't confirm though. I told them I prefer internal audit or credit analyst, but I'm open to others as long as it's not sales.

What kind of questions did they ask? When did you go for your interview?
*
during the interview they asked me to explain what did I do during my internship and what I am doing in my current job, then asked me which department that I prefer to work in pbb. I told them I prefer internal audit and credit analyst, then they asked what do you know about internal audit and credit analyst job. Went to the interview on 3rd July

Phone calls after the interview they just asked me is it okay if I'm placed in certain departments like audit investigation or compliance, or is it okay if I work in certain branches like Sentul, Kelana Jaya etc.

looks like you are getting an internal audit or credit role with one of the branches.
Just like any other organisation, your experience with PBB really depends on the branch or dept you’re attached to. I’ve heard horror stories from certain branches as well as head office. I was lucky cause I have good, supportive colleagues and superiors in my dept. To be honest, I do enjoy my working environment and tasks given at PBB but the red tape imposed by the bank as previously mentioned by others can by bloody annoying at times. And the pay is just uhhhhhh...

All the best!
*
looks like they are offering, but not yet confirmed hahah. My current firm is small and pays peanut but I have very good colleagues and seniors, they are very nice people. The working culture and colleagues are actually one of my top priority besides salary. So yeah hopefully I will be placed in good dept/branch. If the culture sucks then I think I will tahan for 1-2 years, then jump ship.. which I hopefully wont do since I plan to stay for long term. As for the pay though pbb pays higher than my current firm, and there's ok increments.

If you’re looking for a good working culture/ helpful colleagues, PBB is the last place to look at. When I went for their mandatory three weeks training course, almost everyone in my cohort complained about unhelpful colleagues and rude managers. But then YMMV.

Not trying to scare you or anything, but I reckon you will have a higher chances of getting a bad branch because usually the turnover rate is really high and HR is desperate to get the vacant positions filled.  unsure.gif

If that's the case I'll just have to see what position they are offering me. My top preference is internal audit, if they offer it to me I'll accept it with no hesitation. As for the bad working culture I guess I'll just have to bear with it. It's the banking internal audit experience that I'm chasing for. At least I can jump ship to better firm in a year or two.

Ooof I've heard bad reviews for that position.

From what I remembered it's almost the same the credit analyst at branches other than the fact that it's even worst. The processing turnover time for hire purchase officer is shorter than say in the mortgage/commercial department. So expect to have a rougher, high pace and high stress work environment than the analysts at PBB.

It's not sure if it's a sales job per se, but as the saying goes everyone in PBB is expected to do sales because "selling is our responsibility"... you should expect that you will learn things in the hire purchase centre by making mistakes/ getting scolded by your superiors as no one has time to teach you.

In my humble opinion, I'm not sure if PBB is the right place for you especially since they offered you a placement in hire purchase. From your post history I suppose you're doing audit and sometimes tax. In hire purchase centre the job scope is mostly like data entry/admin because you 99% of the time you just key in details from the documents into the system, send for approval, stamping, filing and draft letter. It is totally a different job scope from audit. Try to aim for credit analysts at branches (mortgage loan dept) because after a few months you'll get to process commercial loans and this is where you get to practice what you've learnt.

But if you're going in for the money, I can't stop you lo. Just know that the standard turnover for new staffs at Hire Purchase department centre is 2-3 months based on this forum and this should raise some red flags. Can you stay in this department for the next year or two before jumping to another company?
*
wow so many negative things about PBB so far. I don't think PBB is right for me either since I wanted to go for big 4, but they are not responding to any of my applications. I just want a big firm name on my resume and I think PBB can do exactly just that. I just hope they really will offer me internal audit, even if the working culture is also bad, at least the experience is more valuable as compared to data entry tasks in credit analyts/ hire purchase. My current job is amazing in terms of work-balance, colleagues/seniors and stress level, but the salary is pretty low and it is a no-name small audit firm. So I'll just see what position they are offering me first

Wow my third week in PB, attached in credit processing HP Centre.

As cautioned by others, the working culture here is less than ideal to say the least. The head is a nice guy. But persons below him such as managers and seniors can be plain-spoken and mean at times. Also they can be very busy and have no time to teach you stuff. Since they are busy, they expect you to learn fast so that they can go on with their works. Also, it's my third week and now only I can access my PC and the system. Working hours can be long. Working until 8pm onward and working on Saturdays are normal.

I guess the good thing is their staff welfare and benefits. They give many leaves like annual leave (24 days), sick leave (30 days + 30 days hospitalization), exam leave (7 days) and a few other leaves. Your medical expenses is also fully covered. My colleague underwent operations costing 10k but PB fully paid for him. And upon confirmation, you'll be entitled to housing loan, car loan, motorcycle loan and a few other loans with about 2% max interest rate. Another good thing is their training. They provide training constantly at Bangi, and the training is usually fun. If you want to pursue chartered bankers paper, the bank will also sponsor you.

This bank give good benefits, but if you cannot tahan the working environment, maybe it's not suitable for you.

Tbh, it's normal for bank to give high annual leave. Last time I worked in a bank, I'm entitled for that high annual leave.

But for normal companies out there, you are entitled for 12-18 annual leave for exec level position.

because I previously worked in a company that gives only 10 days AL so when I know the bank give 24 days it really surprised me lol

you're based at KJA right?
I do enjoy my job as I have nice colleagues and bosses, and I don't wake up every morning dreading to do the 1 hour commute to work at Menara PB. I have friends working in other local banks and they bitch alot about their colleagues and their work ethics while PBB staff unite in bitching about our pay  tongue.gif

btw your bonus heavily depends on your department or branch. MT do receive year end department/branch bonus but pro rated to the day you joined.
*
yup I'm based in KJ, living around the area as well so it's a good location to commute with acceptable traffic jam. That's nice if you have nice colleagues and bosses. Our pay is quite low as compared to other banks I do agree with you on that haha. Wow MT also receive bonus? that's good, hopefully our branch is doing well this year. May I know in which branch are you attached in?

Basic Salary still RM2800 OR RM3200 now? Be warn, be prepared until late nights like 12 hours+ a day. Best of luck. Pay is good once you reached senior level but prepared to be a cow.
*
Salary is still 2.8k . Been working for 2 months now but feels like 1 year. Everyday OT. Stress level is high. My job itself is pretty simple. But there are so many compliance and paperwork need to adhere making our life so miserable.

Any of u can share your experience and whay in the Letter Offer dont have any column stated benefit eg Annual Leave and etc. Only have the attachment of Allowance claim and phone allowance. what is Bank's Lotus Note? The benefit for sales staff izzit same as normal banking officer (eg. Bonus, Increment, Dental & Spectacles Allowance). Please help coz will start work with them on next week. Still considering after saw such many vad comment here... Any one of u can share your Bancaassurance experience here? and heard some of them say there is no proper work desk for banc sales executive is that true?
*
Benefits not mentioned in offer letter include 24 days annual leave, 60 days sick leave, full medical coverage in panel clinics, travel claims.. or at least that's all I remember. The Lotus Note is the intranet system where you can apply leave, check AL balance, print payslip and other HR stuff.

I see... Alright.. Very nervous about it now.. My first time ever working at Bank.. What will actually first day doing? I'm in Bancassurance dept.. haha
*
Banca is really tough in all banks. But PB is the worse I think hahah. PB really strict on compliance so it might be hard for you to close on a sale. You definitely will have sales target that you need to achieve. But if you do achieve it, you'll be rewarded handsomely. Bonus is definitely good provided that you perform. As for your first day can't comment much. But mine I didn't do any works in my first week.

Walao, I didn't get BDS, usually other executives will prepare for me sad.gif what training are you on now?
*
currently I'm already processing cases. Got on the job training by my senior that's all. There will be PB Talent max training program for 3 weeks which I need to attend but the date is not confirmed yet. Btw credit analyst is pretty stressful as well. Lots of compliance need to adhere, if you do careless mistakes your bonus will be affected. Also gotta be very careful in calculating the loan and interest rate. If you calculate higher it's not that bad because bank is earning more, but if calculate lower, you and the manager who recommend the case need to pay for the difference icon_idea.gif And this is only some..
