QUOTE(Drian @ Oct 24 2010, 12:33 PM)
ITEM      DESCRIPTION                                                                                    QTY       AMOUNT ( RM )

            Entrance –

Anyone knows whether this is a good quote or not. This is the first quote , havent nego yet.

QUOTE
3         floor tile(2’x2’)                                     114sqft             1,710.00

114sqft / 4' (being 2'x2') = 29 (rounded)

1710 / 29pcs = whopping $59 each! Even if this includes the labour and material it is still darn expensive...

this is why I keep on asking why contractor always quote it this way, and we should buy our own tiles... smile.gif

I mean the wall is actually a sliding door, 3 feet of wall and then door... so theoretically it's only 3 feet length of wall

In this case, have to check your site then only know, because have to see do you have beam or column around, and see where can get the support and so on many thing.

any got good contractors that lurk around setapak ?
wanna to some minor upgrade for my house renovated last year, as some part i did not satisfied with it now.

1. car porch tiles, around 14x18 (got concrete already, useable?)

2. remove existing awning, build 10 feet concrete + roof above car porch..(and reuse awning to my house backside if possible)

3. build a small store probably around 4x3 under my staircase, fix/touch up ugly cracks on stair.

4. change stainless steel gate, i think its 10 feet.

5. change my stair rail if possible. (it is those kayu lubang stair, removed those kayu and build cement and tiles directly)

can ppl break down if u how roughly how much each will cost ?

Hai guys i think it is very difficult to quote and get quote when don't see condition of site.

but if you do renovation it will really cost u more than what u expecting!

Myself (also a contractor/houseowner) just finish fully renovate my 20'X70' house and total up until now is almost 300k including design/submission/manpower/ material/mechanical/electrical/finishes/id/electrical appliances.

All is the matter what u really want, what brand u want.

What u need is someone that really can guide u along the way doing your renovation.

Trust me, u will need extra cash if u don't really well plan.

Thanx

lol~ different materials different price...but in the end, minimum spend RM40k and above for decent renovations: kitchen, cabinets, grills.

Workers by day, crooks by night
By STEVEN DANIEL
stevend@thestar.com.my

SERDANG: Police recovered loot worth RM300,000 recently after arresting five men suspected of being odd-job labourers by day and burglars by night.

During the day, the men, aged between 30 and 40 years old, did minor renovation work at houses and monitored nearby houses.

They would then wait till the wee hours of the morning before making their move.

Acting Selangor police chief SAC Datuk A. Thaiveegan said the suspects’ crime spree came to an end when police raided their house in Sungai Besi on Oct 27.

They had earlier broke into a house.

When the raiding party moved in, the burglars were in the midst of trying to pry open a stolen security safe weighing more than 100kg.

“Investigations showed the men would observe the neighbourhood while doing odd jobs,” said SAC Thaiveegan.

“In the early morning while it was still dark, the suspects would use their skills from doing renovation work and odd jobs to break into their targeted house,” he said.

Police recovered jewellery, watches, computers, two stolen Toyota Camry and various house break-in tools.

He said the suspects armed with a fake gun would be high on drugs when committing the crime.

They have been actively breaking into homes in the Serdang, Kajang and Cheras area the past one year.

Sources said police were tracking down other members of the gang still at large.

guys/girls,

need to ask for advice....i bought a subsale house and need to do renovations on the 2 toilets and other touch up, would like to know to know the estimates for the below:-

1- total reno for the 2 toilets (replace basin, toilet bowl, retile till the ceiling, water proofing)
2- rewiring the whole house or just add another few power point, antenna, data and phone (if the wiring is still ok)
2- change the back and front grill (small+glassdoor). planned to use those maintenance free one....not sure what u call that but definitely not stainless steel
3- waterproof and car porch + fresh layer of concrete
4- awning for the kitchen, and 3 rooms on the 1st floor

There is existing plaster ceiling with downlight n etc, just wanted to replace all of it.

Thanks, my budget is around 20k-30k just for all these.........my uncle will do the tiling for the 1st floor n car porch, so i can hack it myself with the help of my friends. So would like to know if the above is sufficient?

my house size is 20X60
toilet is small, around 4X10

thanks.......
