laminated RM3 psf is dirt cheap but what is the quality like? Does it has water resistant, lifetime termite warranty? I'm paying about 6+ psf and getting it from Inovar which provide both the warranties.

QUOTE(kathlynn @ Jul 20 2010, 08:04 PM) ur electrical points charge are quite pricey. i have mine @ rm75 for lights/3amp, RM 150 for a/c, oven, fridge (4mm - 2.5mm) & RM110 for fan (incl hook). Pricey or not is hard to say sometimes.. you may pay higher but then you may be getting the better wires.. Give and take I tell myself. My quote for lighting points is $55 and aircond is $190 instead... Chiense said 'pull high patch below'... even that, my contractor's quote is not that cheap..... |

powder coated...the paint is long lasting than the normal metal with a layer of paint... correct me if i'm wrong as i'm getting all my grill powder coated for sure.
Added on July 22, 2010, 10:34 am QUOTE(ys78 @ Jul 22 2010, 03:39 AM) I have tried to negotiate with my contractor to reduce the price of lighting point, but he insisted that he provide a quality work with an proper "dressing" for the wire. yeah... i know the better quality wiring is a 'trunk' type where all three earth/neutral/live all sheathed.. Cheap one would be those single strand where you have 3 wires (L/N/E each) for one connection... Anyone knows about this?Added on July 22, 2010, 10:35 amI guess it is hard to compare to rest especially when measurement is unknown... This post has been edited by numbertwo: Jul 22 2010, 10:35 AM |

don't you want to visit the showroom and mix and match the tiles before getting a quotes?
separating the contractors no doubts is cheaper, but you need to have fulltme involvement else it will only be a MESS.... pace around = 13'x12' (156 sqf)
quoted price is RM1000 is this price cheap or pricey? ==================== 156sqf / 4sqf= ~39 pieces of 2'x2' RM1000 / 39 = ~RM26 each tile workmanship for laying 2'x2' averge about RM7-8 psf. So, ... i think if he provides you a 1st grade 2'x2', the price is reasonable.. |

QUOTE(cenkudu @ Oct 20 2010, 03:52 PM) calculation is based on tiles at the cost of RM 6.50 ok..so long as it is not charging based on the area size and multiple by the cost of a piece of tile! I've came across contractor who charged based on the area size, and multiply by the type of tiles (1x1 or 2x1, or 2x2) chosen. It's a daylight robbery and thus, that's the reason why many ppl prefer to look for their own tiles and supply them to the contractor.however I tried to maintain the price at the same time will use RM 7.50 tile |

that depends on what size of tiles is your quotation referring to. Generally labour for laying 2x2 will be more expensive than 1x2 or 1x1 ..
QUOTE -install 1 X 2 tiles to the area of 35 X 38 - quote RM 11500 assuming a 1x2 homo tiles a piece that i purchased is RM8.00. Area of 35x38=1330sf. 1330 sf / 2' = 665 so u need 665pc x RM8 = RM5320. RM11500 - RM5320 = Balance of RM6180. Divide this by 1330sf =RM4.6 labour for laying 1x2 tiles. SO, is this reasonable? |

Yes, so Cenkudu has to find out what type/brand/grade his contractor is supplying...
I bot most of my tiles from Feruni. The car porch homo 1x2 tiles cost me RM8ea. |

QUOTE(Drian @ Oct 24 2010, 12:33 PM) ITEM DESCRIPTION QTY AMOUNT ( RM ) Entrance – Anyone knows whether this is a good quote or not. This is the first quote , havent nego yet. QUOTE 3 floor tile(2’x2’) 114sqft 1,710.00 114sqft / 4' (being 2'x2') = 29 (rounded) 1710 / 29pcs = whopping $59 each! Even if this includes the labour and material it is still darn expensive... this is why I keep on asking why contractor always quote it this way, and we should buy our own tiles... as the sayings go..don't squeeze your contractor too much.. you are the receiving ends and you won't know what you will be getting if you push them to the limit..
