From what i've heard, the % of interest will be based on how good are you at paying back the credit card. If you pay on time (pay all sum before the due date) for 1 year, it will be lowered to 15% per annum.

The idea is bank want them to payback eventhough less interest but atleast they get back money instead of declaring them bankrupt they get nothing

Actually I am looking forward to apply for my second credit card.
Now i am using hsbc cc already,so i want another one to be my spare card for just in case.

I heard that UOB One Card is good coz got cash rebate and it's free for life, but someone says the UOB service sucks...
and the UOB One Card comes along with another master card, right?
That means i have to swipe 6 times for each card every year?
Should i go for it?
Or what other bank cc do u guys recommend?(In terms of discount, offer and no annual fee)

From the day I returned my application till the day I got my DA card (primary + supplementary) - 5 days.

And upon activation, I was told I can use it immediately. smile.gif

if you do prompt repayment (means pay on time & satisfy the "minimum payment") for 12 out of 12 months...they drop the interest rate from 1.5% per month to 1.25%. If you accumulate them up (1.25*12mths) the total is 15% lo tongue.gif

simply put:-

12 months prompt repayment - 15% per annum / 1.25% per month
10 months prompt repayment - 17% per annum / 1.42% per month (if you missed 1 or 2 datelines)
less than 10 months prompt repayment - 18% per annum / 1.5% per month (if you missed more than 3 datelines)

as for whether they will give you the 15% or 17% AFTER 12 months or not...its not mentioned.

this rule is decided by Bank Negara...I believe all local banks have to follow this rule. So far, I know 3 banks have already put up the announcement. Maybank, HSBC and some other. All say the same thing and start on the exact same date - July 2008. Not sure about International banks like Std Chart and all...

I'm just waiting for my PIN to arrive. Called CS yesterday to escalate on it. In that call, the CS told me that they yet generate the PIN and asked me when I submitted the application. WTH! I told her that I have ticked that portion during my form submission.

If I don't get my PIN by next week, I'll rage the CS again!

oh ya, there's also some changes to the late payment charges. I'm not sure what it was last time...but now they're charging 1% levy (tax) on your statement balance or RM10; whichever is higher.

and there's no more 20 day free interest rate if you don't pay your previous month's transaction. Means if you spent RM300 on March, you'll have to repay that same amount (or more) to get the 20 day free interest rate.

Higher chance that DA will approve if you attach a copy of degree certificate.
