@siutimtim,
In the earlier days, Citibank's Clear Card gave you priviledges exceeding their Classic/Gold Card meant for 'yuppies'; it doesn't seem to be the case these days (still I'm not too sure cause I don't seem to be utilising them nor have I made a comparison lately). I refused the upgrade because I knew I wouldn't be able to re-apply for the Clear card. I've had friends who wanted the Citibank Clear Card once upon a time whose application was rejected; instead they were offered a Gold Card instead.

I intend to keep at least 1 of my Clear Cards hence will never be tempted to an upgrade biggrin.gif

hey guys..i just wanna ask 1 question about this credit card..let say my basic salary around RM1200, can i apply for the credit card ? which bank easier ?

Thanks.. smile.gif

I worked as Credit card sales department before. For OCBC. But the info i can give you is. minimum requirement is 1500salary per month.

If you can made pay slip wif 1500 salary(muz look like original) per month. You will probably get your card... Easy bank to get it, is those local bank. Bcoz as i know. the approve rate higher for local bank.

Limit for the card is not sure. Is depend on your creditability history in all your payments for loan,etc.

No problem with me, but I'm not sure MBB will have problem if a customer is in that situation.
Thank you. wink.gif

@Dyong,
The cards I received from Citibank aren't on a combined limit; they each have separate individual limits.

I don't like the idea of keeping too many credit cards or having a super thick wallet hence the thought of cancelling the additional HSBC Visa card of mine.
*
Yeah, I need someone to periodically clear my wallet for me.
With both my waistline and wallet growing, a little room sure helps.

Mum used to do that for me every weekend and sapu all my small notes/ coins.
Now she's busy with my newborn niece.

It's a happy problem nevertheless smile.gif

just checked wif my dad's cc statement...seems like Direct access master cards can get 2% petrol rebate at any petrol stations PLUS mesra points at petronas. im just wondering if this is the case, what's the use of launching cimb petronas co-brand cards.

The co-brand card launched first before the 2% rebate by DA card.

@Dyong,
I'll make sure I clear that wallet for u this weekend `k? Just make sure u keep enough notes for me to clear `k? [PS: I'm taking Mom to Japanese lunch this weekend in conjunction with Mom's Day!]

@siutimtim,
I sure didn't know DA gave 2% rebate on petrol. I'll use my DA on my next petrol fill up n check if the 2% is applicable on my card.

Thank You, it's really sweet of you Tinker.
Will twinkle my mum a bit, so she better buck up or risk losing her monopoly.

I love Japanese, especially Salmon belly sashimi.
Too bad mum's against having this on Mom's day, guess we're gonna stick to her favourite high tea.

The Shell petrol rebate card has too many restrictions, rebates given if only you rollover your balance.
Do let me on if you spot one without such hidden cost.

I check my Shell Citibank Card statement and looks like it'll credit into my b/c every 2 months. There shows the total rebate and deduction from the total payment I have to pay.

@Dyong,
It's Mom's Day so it really is her call; unlike in my family, I make the call so it was more like, I make the reservations, invite the people i want to invite, tell dad about it, reconfirm invitation list and then tell mom we're having lunch on Sun *grins*

Am sure ur mom's not gonna mind losing out to me *grins* She's gonna love me btw.. wanna take a bet on that? wink.gif

And yes the Shell petrol card is totally not worth it - in order to gain the rebates u gotta owe the bank $ - what's the point of getting rebates when u need to be spending more $ to earn those rebates? It's rubbish if U asked me.

I haven't come across many credit cards with no restrictions other than the Direct Access graduate card which is *REALLY* Free For Life, with no conditions attached! The only bummer is that their point system sucks.

question here:

1:

what is the best deal (for credit card) out there that, can let me balance transfer to the card, and give very low rate (lower than the 15%) for the amount?
if so, what are the charges? term and conditions... and etc etc

2:
what is the best 0% payment scheme out there?

**********
as you might guess i am planning to buy something and is looking for a good payment scheme. any advice?

@eric84cool,
But U only get the rebate if u were owing the bank $ right? If U paid ur bills on time every month and in full, U wouldn't be getting any rebate off ur purchases.

Tinker....ROFL - Can't stop giggling... can't imagine both you partners in crime; ganging up to "Open sesami" my wallet.

I too prefer plastic, extremely useful in consolidating all spendings under one bill.

Like the old cantonese saying, "there're no big frog leaping randomly on the street."
Must watch the fine print and do remember to clear monthly balance in full.

I am on Citi Plat. dividend card, any personal recommendation for me?

ANyone been to the HSBC expo in Midvalley last weekend?
The credit card agent told me that HSBC offering free for life card provided I swipe at least once every month . So i apply one.
But the thing is after i search HSBC website, no sign of the free for life thing.
I call HSBC, they say no such package, but HSBC can waive it provided I call them every yr to ask for annual fee waiving. Wat lah, feel like being cheated.

That's wny I mentioned earlier that it was a dirty marketing tactic used by the card agents.

That's the problem why I don't really want to apply for HSBC, StanChart, Citibank, etc. cards. I don't want to waste my time once every year to call (beg/threaten) them to waive the annual fees.

The current M'sia market is free for life credit cards with no condition.

Added on May 6, 2008, 6:02 pmAnyway, I was at MV last weekend also and pass by there but didn't go in. On the way to pet shop...

The entrance looks empty though. Maybe it is catered for special category card users, unlike MBB Treatpoints fair which is like PC Fair... free for all.

For goodness sake, do not ever threaten Citibank, they are big enough to blacklist you.

Then again, you have to go back to beg them again to clear your name.

Well, they can go ahead and blacklist me. I have nothing to lose with them and I think they have nothing to lose without me as well. wink.gif

I don't like to call Citibank to waive annual fees. I repeat, I don't beg Citibank, in fact I cancelled their cards several times when they refused to waive the fees, yet they re-offer back to me after 6-12 mths. Then cancel again after 1-2 yrs... then offer back. doh.gif

Why do I need them to clear my name ??? For what reason ??? so I can beg and apply their card again ? Now I get fedup and just keep the card as spare. In fact, they send me a Shell Citibank CC and call me up to activate it... I told them no thanks and cut the card.

Things I don't like about Citibank CC:
1) Limited branches to pay in KL
2) Cannot pay online like Maybank2u (obviously I'm just a small chick-pea that doesn't warrant a savings/current a/c in Citibank)
3) Amex is offering 2x points forever. The rest 1x only, except promotion period or rebate.
4) International recognition ? BAH!... So far I did not encounter any problem using MBB outside M'sia.

I don't have problem using MBB Amex in Asia and Europe. I'm not here to champion MBB or Amex, but I think it is personal preference on which card suits a person lifestyle better.
