I think it is good to apply as a permanent spare card becos no annual fee @ all... so unless u can cancel urself or the product is discontinued, if not, u can continue to hold this card, even u are out of job etc... haha

Heard from a friend that even with zero carry forward balance we can still get rebates on Shell fuel and non-fuel purchases

That only applies if you spend a lot every month...like a thousand or more. But if you spend only a few hundreds every month and you pay back in full, they are earning peanuts. The bank earns the most from you if you maxed up your credit card and pay enough that you are able to use it only for your monthly cc transactions.

True to a certain extent. If you swipe a lot, the banks will notice and sometimes will send you free gifts or special offer.

Also, I just realise Amex pump petrol has CC points. Not sure how true, will try it out. Stupid me...

Not really. There was a time I was spending 4-8k every mth (company expenses, claimable tongue.gif ) My fren holding the same card was spending <2k. I got something, but he didn't get anything.

Arghh... stupid me! Amex vmad.gif missed out on points !!! But when petrol stations start changing their system couple of yrs back, they only accept Visa/Master at the pump. No diners/amex. Maybe I get used to it, and forgot about amex.

2 weeks ago was at 1U and then Alliance Bank CC staff asked me to apply their card, can't remember why i signed on the dotted lines and yesterday got another Visa Plat. But the card looks pretty cool (Black and Silver).

look thru the intro booklet and noted Alliance Bank CC got no advantage over other Banks card. However the annual fee is free if swipe more than 12 times a year.

There are a lot of reasons and credit card application really require a lot of rules. Banks must comply to Bank Negara in order to approve the credit card.

I admit, Citibank is more strict than most banks but they also have customers that are mostly prompt or full pay masters. That is how they make so much money

How many cc company you applied before? You need to know your ccris record will shows recent cc application for up to 12 months. Each new application whether approved or not will be noted and will reduce your score.
