2 weeks ago was at 1U and then Alliance Bank CC staff asked me to apply their card, can't remember why i signed on the dotted lines and yesterday got another Visa Plat. But the card looks pretty cool (Black and Silver).

look thru the intro booklet and noted Alliance Bank CC got no advantage over other Banks card. However the annual fee is free if swipe more than 12 times a year.

citibank is my favourite mah... of course i would like to have their card, my first sg credit card is citibank one also... but too bad my first malaysia credit card is not citibank....

so you got an overseas citibank? why don't you call citibank and ask them if you can "transfer" the account to a local account.

Citibank does periodically have good offers besides the normal discount at food outlets compared to other cards. However there is one disadvantage of the offers, mostly got to register via sms. So if one does not register, he /she will not benefit. Example, now Citibank got 10X reward points if use EPP with certain merchants but you got to register via sms. Therefore, one has to check Citibank website often to see what's new.

Anyway, here's a tip for all Jaya Jusco Card Members. Previously HSBC CC got 10% discount at Starbuck but no more. Good news is if you got JJ card, can get 10% rclxm9.gif

CIMB DA Gold and Platinum are free for life.

yah, Direct Access has no annual fees. Prior to CIMB taking over Southern Bank, this offer was for professional or graduate.

David83, noted from link above no mentioned of one needing to be a graduate/professional to qualify for free annual fee but link below does mention

http://www.directaccess.com.my/index.php?c...ard&ac=8&tpt=da

Also CIMB have lowered the annual income requirement for Platinum to RM80K whereas previously under Southern Bank it got to be above RM100K.

I do have a DA Plat CC card but it is in my drawer as the benefits aren't that great; moreover, got to pay for courier charges when redeem rewards points and the points have a fixed expiry date (you accumulate points for 3 years then start from 0 again).

but with CIMB now owing DA, there are more offers, recently DA have discount/rebate at MPH.

David83, it is repeatly asked here in this thread about free annual fee, i suggest that you compile the posts here in regards to CC with free annual fee at the 1st post. Below are CC that offer free annual fees without the need of requesting for waiver that i know:

Direct Access Plat and Gold - requirement Professional/Graduate.
UOB Plat - got to have BOTH MasterCard and Visa and swipe minimum 6 times/card.
Alliance Plat - swipe 12 times a year or spend RM3,000/year.
RHB Evo - got to swipe once a month or RM8 is charged for that month.
OCBC Plat Robinson - got to spend RM8K/year inclusive of minimum RM1K at Robinson

eyng mentioned
MBB Flex -got to swipe twice a month or else charged RM3.95
Citibank Choice - requirement for free annual fee ?

Quick question. Any benefit of taking OCBC Platinum Robinson's card?

If you do a lot of shopping at Robinson then yes as it gives you 5% rebate for purchases at Robinson.

how abt HSBC? is it easy to get waiver after the 1 year fee waiver period? is there any need to spend certain amount for the past 1 year to get the waiver for next year?
*
Last year when i called HSBC for my Plat Visa annual fee waiver, the request was approved on condition i spend RM3K within a month. the previous year was RM2K only, wonder this year they would increase it?

As for annual fee waiver, today i called Hong Leong Bank to request for my Plat MC annual fee waiver and boy was i surprised that the guy approved it within a couple minutes. Previously my HLB Gold Card i had to fax in request.

don't you have to pay annual fees for the AMEX card?
*
can always ask for waiver like CC, i have not paid AMEX annual fees for more than 10 years.

there is no certain limit for gold card...but lowest should be 4-5k tongue.gif

upperlimit tongue.gif pretty much depend on how much Value u are tongue.gif

CC card limit depends on the individual credit worthiness and not necessary the type of card i.e. normal or gold or plat. If you maintain a good record and depending on your spending pattern, all banks will increase your CC limit as time goes by.

I have on two occasions rejected citibank preapproved Gold Card as i do not find any significant benefits compared to my Citibank Clear Card. Initially my Citibank Clear Card limit was only RM7K and now it is RM22K and that is not including an additional RM7K for installment plan.

Another example is of CC does not depend on type of card is when i got my RHB Evo CC (normal CC card not even Gold) last year i was shocked that the limit is RM40K.

I only go for cards that give me free annual fee waiver and don't really care for credit limit since i cannot even afford to max out any single one of my many CC.

EVO card limit is RM40k ? sure or not???? You earn RM20k per month is it brows.gif

I too was shocked that RHB gave me RM40K limit for Evo which is even higher than my DA Plat but not higher than my other Plat cards. As i mentioned limit depends on one's credit worthiness.

The reason why i have a Evo is because the RHB teller asked me for a favour to fill in the application form and since it is free as long i use it once a month, i said ok. All i did was signed on the form, attached my name card and the teller photostated my other CC and she filled in the rest. No idea what she filled in, hahaha

Lets just say i am an uncle with a long credit history, my first local CC was from UOB and it was a Gold Card when i first started working back in the early 90's.

As i mentoned, my lowest credit limit now is my Citibank Clear card at RM22K and the initially limit was only RM7K few years back when i 1st got the card.

just as what babylabbit said "u must have good credit history.........wait long long...it will come...", and one day siutimtim, your normal CC limit may even be higher than RM40K.

Yesterday, a guy called to inform me they waiving my HSBC Plat annual fees which is due in June. Last few years i have to call them and usually they will waive but with condition i spend RM3K with them within a month. Therefore i was shocked to receive such a call to inform me of the waiver. After that he asked if i want do balance transfer or want personal loan which both i am not interested.

Call HSBC today and they confirmed indeed my coming annual fees is waived and shown in system smile.gif

I am starting to love HSBC.
