Looks nice but the downside is no temp readings.

It is the temperature that warrants the purchase...no temp readings, make it hard for people to judge the feasibility of the Glaciator heatsink/cooler.

Or have to mod the bios so the temp readings would appear again?

That Asus TOP Geforce 8800gt is a good change from the usual reference cooler which is quite bad retrospectively.

However, I observed that the Asus Cooler has not covered most of the Video Card Memory. That might not be a good thing for overclocking the memory though.

Is there any more 3rd party cooler other than Thermalright HR-03GT, Zalman 900CU LED, Artic Accelero S1 and Artic Silencer 5?

yala asus engineers must be thinking : "wow, our new glaciator cooler is t3h l33t and pwns every cooler on the planet, so why bother enabling temperature reading"

Yeah, looks like ASUS is a no go for me. Maybe the Gigabyte model with zalman fan should do it.

Looks like ASUS have either disabled or removed the temp sensor from its BIOS.

Infact the card looks shorter than the standard 8800GT.

How bout the Zalman Fatality model?

Fatality model is a variant of 900CU LEd, I am currently using the Fatality model.

Funny that, the noisest of the 3rd party coolers are no where close to noise produced by the stock cooler fan speed @ 60%. Even the Fatality version at full speed is no where as noisy as the stock cooler fan speed @ 60%-100%.

Cooling the memory isn't a big issue if the casing have very good airflows. Frankly it's quite easy to cool the Ram by just adding 3rd party small Ram heatsinks. Haven't heard a graphic card where the RAM chips overhead before the core yet though.

For 8800GT with 512MB, which brand is good? MSI? Leadtek? Galaxy?

Why no MSI???

Maybe coz he had bad experiences or heard bad reputation with MSI cards before. All in all, yeah we heard quite a lot of bad reputation stories bout MSI cards, but then again there are also poeple who had no problem with it at all. Can OC to max some more.

Either galaxy or MSI is no that important I think. Just get the one with the best value for money with warranty that'll help you to cover your card in case of any problems in the future.

Get gigabyte 88GT (normal) installed with a zalman fan... u can get rid of all other 88GT

why not go for MSI 88GT ??? Dont compare MSI GC with other parts such as mobo and all.....

MSI 88GT red pcb/second batch with solid caps built-in for stable OC...
I've seen someone OC MSI 88GT to 770/2000/1900 without moding it and run stable on it...

besides gigabyte, is there any other brand that has good cooler/hsf on stock ? i read the palit sonic is not bad also....hmmmmm

also, is it the 88GT has heat problem which causes random crashes ?

p.s : i don't intend to spend 3rd pt coolers ...... no $$$$

i dont think 88GT generates alot of heat....just adjust the fan speed and make sure good ventilation in ur system and you good to go....
