That Asus TOP Geforce 8800gt is a good change from the usual reference cooler which is quite bad retrospectively.

However, I observed that the Asus Cooler has not covered most of the Video Card Memory. That might not be a good thing for overclocking the memory though.

Is there any more 3rd party cooler other than Thermalright HR-03GT, Zalman 900CU LED, Artic Accelero S1 and Artic Silencer 5?

Thanks in advance.

Fatality model is a variant of 900CU LEd, I am currently using the Fatality model.

Funny that, the noisest of the 3rd party coolers are no where close to noise produced by the stock cooler fan speed @ 60%. Even the Fatality version at full speed is no where as noisy as the stock cooler fan speed @ 60%-100%.

Cooling the memory isn't a big issue if the casing have very good airflows. Frankly it's quite easy to cool the Ram by just adding 3rd party small Ram heatsinks. Haven't heard a graphic card where the RAM chips overhead before the core yet though.

If I were in Europe I probably won't buy a heater also I won't buy a 3rd party cooler.

Just fit 2 of those Geforce 8800GT into my computer 24/7.

That'll will warm the room up plenty enough....hehe

Yeah Skyme,

I posted there then I figured could have been a good topic here too.

Maybe the overclocking potential of Geforce 8800gt is higher in overseas with cold weather than Malaysia.

Too bad they have a supply issue or maybe not.

wondering every time i increase the fan speed through riva tuner will it decrease the lifespan of my gc?coz the default fan speed only 25% and it make the gc so damn hot when playing games like crysis or nfsps.......... rclxub.gif
*
I highly doubt the lifespan of the fan is shorter than the lifespan of the GPU.

Anyway you could get a 3rd party cooler in a few years time, most fans I know last like 20,000 hours and upwards. Heck my dad's old computer's Zalman 7500Cu is still going strong after like 3-4 years on 24/7 a week.

By the time your fan goes kaput, it's probably like 2 generations of gpu away. Good time to change to another gpu.

I wonder how does the new nvidia card or amd card is gonna look like.

Probably need water cooling soon enough.

Amal,

You finally got a Geforce 8800 GT, good on you. How's it going for you? I mean the card.

Yeah I play using 1280x1024 for COD4 with 4xAA and 16xAF turned on. No lag, finished the whole game.

Also that resolution for bioshock with all those turn up.

Cheers,

Ken

Yeah quite a while ago before u bought ur MSI Geforce 8800GT.

I think you ask me whether does the CPU bottleneck the this particular card.

Good on you, most important of buying a decent gpu is to enjoy it as much as possible.

I just finished Crysis today, it's not the best game for me, IMO it's just very repetitive with very good graphics and a mediocre story.

Nah

If 66c for load is pretty much alright
If 66c for idle is a bit high but then the Geforce 8800GT can withstand heat till 100c so u should do pretty find at that temp. In fact some guys at a review site did try running it at 110c and they will still able to play some games on it.

If you are too worried u could alwiz opt for 3rd Party heatsink for your geforce 8800gt like I did.

Is MSI 8800GT OC 512MB 256bit  600/1900 worth to buy for Rm870 ?? Saw this in a catalogue so was wondering wat's the difference with other cards... most 8800 are near Rm1k already
*
That's a pretty decent price for an overclocked Geforce 8800GT.

I got mine when it first came out for RM880, Zotac slightly pre-overclocked one.

If you are going to change the heatsink anyway. Might as well get a Geforce 8800GTS, this is because buying a 3rd party cooler would set u back about RM200 plus.

I remember one particular brand for Geforce 8800GT where they use similar cooler with the Geforce 8800GTS one.

Have anyone heard of this?

I understand there are some Geforce 8800GT brands have custom cooler, for example, Palit, Asus TOP and I think Gigabyte too, they use the old Zalman cooler if not mistaken.

I think both the Palit and Asus with custom coolers are definitely better than the reference cooler.

Looks like a bigger version of the Zalman 1000 variant.

Should be pretty quiet and cool.

Good stuff. Finally most brand are phasing out the reference cooler.

I have just bought Colorful 8800GT 512mb w Zalman HSF.

Room Temperature:
Idle: 49-51C
Load: 60-62C

I reckon that was the Zalman VF700 if not mistaken.

Zalman coolers really are still very usable eventhough that model was quite old. The temp sure doesn't disappoint both idle and load.

Enclosed is the photo of it in my blue transparent panel casing.

bro, go for some cable management and u will be happy with the looks and especially the tempreture decrease in ur 3dcard, CPU and NB
I understand that proper cable management can lower the temperature. However, the fact is I don't really have time to do that thing at the moment.
In addition, I did not overclock CPU, GPU or the Ram, so I doubt the temperature will be too high unless their heatsink or heatspreader are covered with lotsa dust.

Given that I already have very little time in enjoying playing games on my computer as we speak.

Thanks for your advice. I will do that when I have the time during public holidays.

Cheers

I have a feeling that Geforce 8800GT cards is almost at the end of its lifecycle, pretty short one but a good one nonetheless.

I reckon that 9600GT shall steal the thunder. Btw how much does a 9800GTX costs? Not that I want to buy it immediately, I might get a new computer by next year so would like to keep track of the prices.

Cheers

RM1.2k and RM1.3 seems alright for almost top end card.

Interesting that Nvidia is going to cut the price of 9600GT.

With mid-end rig performing close to high-end, the pc gaming industry definitely is going to be more exciting these days. I wonder whether the rampant piracy is going to slow the pc gaming industry down significantly.
