as i know uniten hostel is 1 person 1 room.. not bad.... not like mmu... 2 or 3 share in a small room and charge high.... sigh

Uniten is not in Putrajaya, but likely located at Serdang.

+ 4 people in one apartment, which is 2 people in every room
+ 4 people in one apartment as well, but 1 in every room..

each apartment has its own toilet, bathroom, living room, dining area and kitchen..

but the rental price is increasing and too many people flooding uniten.. rumours say that the next intake will consist of 9000 students

I am in Uniten. Everything (for me) is getting from bad to worse. I already spent one year there (straight after SPM) doing Foundation. Then degree came, it was "bloody tough" for me. Heck, I did all I could. My CGPA for Foundation was above 3.00. That is great. Not great to me though...

Now I really wish I wasn't there in the first place.

So much to complaint about Uniten.

#1 The lecturers are ridiculous (OK, some)
#2 The apartment prices are sky-rocketting
#3 The time table is not fixed and we have to do it ourselves (many, many, many problems with it, such as class full [I mean all the sections!!!] )
#4 Timeslot (those who stay near, get late timeslot, etc. etc.)
#5 Absolutely horrendous scheduling of (again) time table

The time table is flexible for you to adjust, but most of the time, its full. Full. My timeslot is always late, and I end up getting all the "not so good" classes. Damn...

More than 1 year in UNITEN, and I want out. Sadly, I "fumbled" in my 1st Year Degree, 1st Sem.

Systematic DOES NOT EQUAL Uniten.
Uniten is not systematic. Also, after 1 year of misery taking (complaint #6) the shuttle busses, I finally had to give in and get a car...

#7 OMG Exam times... (some even 9pm !!!!!) And then NO BUS service. Imagine, for the gals, walking back alone at night... its ridiculous

#8 90% of (my) lecturers rush like crazy towards the end of the semester. Most of them cancel classes due to this and that... some don't turn up to classes (sometimes)...

If you wiki for Uniten, there is something called "Criticism". It has been there for a few months already. Just wait and see, in 1 months time, it will be gone... the Uniten people hate it

UNITEN sux big time...i also from there...lecturers used to be foreigners in the late 90s but since 2002 all retired and now mostly are local lecturers who don't even know what they are doing(only emphasize on what and how to greet them i.e Dr, Ir, Prof)...i was once scolded by a female lecturer because she was an IR and i refered her as a Dr only.

my whole 5 years of exams were self studied..

accomodation are more expensive then rented master rooms outside...food court provides shit and you eat grass on weekends..facilities all damn and spoilt...miscelaneous fees are ridiculously high and you don't get what you deserved...graduation day was like hell day..

#conclusion: nothing is well organized...all they know is how to charge you for this and that..ever seen a car being summoned in a university? and the summons are more expensive than DBKL and MPPJ.

lecturers park near to the faculty and students need to park far away and spaces are limited for students and abundant for lecturers. So if you are in a hurry and park in the lecturer's parking space, you get a summon.
Like one of my lecturer Dr. Johnny said: this is unfair as we students are the ones paying the lecturers and we can be considered as their indirect boss!!

#worst lecturers: zolman, chai mei kim, adnan rosely, kannan, bashir, lariyah (all dunno what they are there for in the first place)

#best lecturers: Dr.Talal, Johnny, Lim Chin Wai (well educated and dedicted to students)

*lecturers sucks,dean sucks,admin staff sucks,facilities sucks, food court sucks, classes sucks, exam hall sucks, in the end----> results also sucks...but i manage to pass with flying colours la

Is really that bad? I have two cousins who are Uniten's graduates, both are engineers now, I didn't hear them talking about all this. If not, they won't encourage another cousin to study there, who is already in his first year Degree of Engineering there...

Well...what year did they grad? the 97 batch of course had the best from Uni10..

One of my cousins graduated in year 2005, an E&E grad, good pay I presume.
Another one cousin, she graduated last year with double Degree in E&E and Power Electrical. She graduated with very good results, most of the time she got 4.0 for her exams.

wah, i didn't expect so much of negative response.. but its the truth.. UNITEN maybe has many cons but they still do have some pros..
it is said that UNITEN is the 2nd best IPTS behind UTP. and most students would get job even before graduating.. i hope all that r the truth..
i just don't know y UNITEN doesn't get any many (+) remarks as MMU.. for me, i think UNITEN is a better institute then MMU.. for offense MMU guys.. .. i think the main problem is UNITEN has too little girls.. so, to all UNITEN guys out there, please encourage your sisters or friends (girls) to enter UNITEN.. it would be a life saver solution for UNITEN..

Well, MMU graduates also get jobs even before they graduate.

worst: zulkifli ahmad(quite lenient though), norhalena mohd nor, meena, aidil (don't take him. details...ask 2nd, 3rd year students ), khairul salleh, eng kian hin, dr hanim
best: zarina( very good), norshah, faris (very strict ), abreeza, zaemah hassan, mikhail fong (i love his class, never ponteng also )

The worst lecturer...I'd say you won't understand anything/ or will be missing anything (except for quizzes) much even though you go to the class. I think you ponteng the class for the whole sem also no problem. You are better of self study. Honestly, you can get only 1 good lecturers for each semester. Which at times made me think why am I here in the first place

The labs are pretty sh*tty for engineering students. Fees are getting expensive, with a lot of crappy unreasonable fees. Accommodation had increased. Even though not much, why the hell increase? Its not like they upgrade the facilities or anything. Its is still the same apartment. They also will give you all kind of stupid excuses for the increment.

I've just went through the whole thing, I don't think it is reliable... It is based on webometric and webometric means "A directory of world universities ranked according their presence on the Web".

MMU is no.17 and not 16, actually.

does it mean UNITEN still has hope? wahh.. great.. sorry for the wrong info.. should have read it carefully before posting it.. but MMU is far more popular than UNITEN..

In UNITEN, you just have to do your assignments and homework then attend quizes and you will pass even though you sleep thru the entire final exams la...

And at the end of every semester, you just need to ask for tips from lecturers and you will pass with FLYING COLOURS.

I even met one lecturer, a female one, she directly gave out all questions for my Engineering Dynamics Subject.
and in the exam, we wrote down the answer first then start doing the calculations from down to up...just imagine that...4.00 in UNITEN is just as easy as kacang....

in UNITEN, you just need to add a LITTLE BIT MORE effort to pass with good results...

i took ICE, PPC, Mechatronics and Environmental Eng.
i recommend you to choose environmental...no need attend class also can score A.
dun choose Mechatronics or you will die with Dr Farrukh Nagi (another ass lecturer)

If you really want to learn, choose lecturers like Dr Norshah, Dr. Ibrahim and those you know who la...u study uniten sure know one la who good who ass!

got 2 type of hostel..one is like mentioned by u: 1 person 1 room(CENDEKIAWAN). and another 1 is 2 person 1 room.(AMANAH) basically, new students are placed in AMANAH...

and you walk a whole 2 km to class everyday if you don't have transport....

dun bloody get cheated by claims that UNITEN provide shuttle service..if you depend on that...be prepared to missed at least half a sem of classes...the drivers are all pigs!

Wow, I didn't know UNITEN is that bad.
Then, I can proudly say MMU is much better in term of the produced results.

And i was one lazy geek who never attended class for the first 2 months normally in a 4 month semester...so i only manage second class upper at 3.2

btw, final exams at UNITEN is damn tough seriously. many had flunked. and we are too thoery-centric i believe, lack practicals. but we do have alot of clubs to support on this.

But stupidbump mentioned before that the exams at UNITEN are like kacang. To get full 4.0 pointer is not something hard in UNITEN.

bullshit. it's either u walk the talk or just talk the talk. of course it's not hard to get 4.0 if u only take all LAN subjects in one sem.

but, i believe to get A depends on lecturer, some are very strict with their markings and some are just too linean. this is a universal truth everywhere around the globe. but still, we are not in america, where they allow open book exams.

as far as i remember, i have never got A during degree except for C programming for engineering, Comparative Religion and Digital Logic. other than that, it's all A- and below. and these 3 subjects that i score is because of it's lecturer which gives alot of quizzes and assignments to backup our grades. other than that, they are just too reluctant to give out points especially those who play truant with their classes.

it has come to my concern that, grades are not that important really. unless u wanna go for masters degree and Permanent Head Damage (Ph.D)

Wait LAN subjects in UNITEN are counted in for CGPA?
We all in MMU, only considered as pass or fail... I thought it supposed to be that way.

it's like that since day 1. that's why CGPA doesnt play any role. what matters is the accumulated points for core subjects for engineering.

and to be frank with u, most of the LAN subject lecturers are very strict with their markings.

there are many bad lecturers in UNITEN but there is still some great lecturers.. UNITEN is not that bad.. for me its very stressful. maybe its because i can't cope up with the subjects.. its entirely a different dimension compared to high school..

Hm...pass, I think if do assignments, ok2 test, you can pass for sure. The finals are pretty sh*tty that's for sure. What they taught is not up to the standard with the exam papers.

Btw, how is ICE? Tough or not? PPC= reading subject? and what you learn in environmental engineering?

Not sure about that, but from what I heard from my lecturer, 2 semester back around 20-30% scored with cgpa>3.00. Is that a lot?

If i want to study a degree in e n e in uniten,can i study Foundation in Science in utar first then only transfer to uniten? This is because i came from a little poor family only....

betul betul.. its the same just different terms..

Haiz...Uni10 always like to do peculiar and odd things one mah....

ICE is quite easy, since they cover mostly basic stuff for internal combustion engine, Mr. Adnan is quite friendly and sometimes funny too. Environmental engineering is more about pollution mitigation thingy.

BTW ICE, PPC and Environmental are some of the easy to score elective for mechanical student. hehe hopes this help.

last time one lecturer told to the class that there r planning to open classes on weekends so working people could study during weekends.. but of course, for them the course will finish later.. maybe that's the only way for u to take double degree.. if u r planning to take 2 courses full time, surely all will clash.. even now everything is clashing.. . i hope the info can assist u.. if not try asking the admin people.. all the best bro..

anyway...rental increased...school fees dunno why they increase it without notify us earlier...shuttle bus slow like snail...Admin,if i'm the boss..i will fire the fat receptionist first and replace all admin with a new group which are really working.car park is only for lecturers...little book store dun wanna sell elective books ...always force us to do piracy activities...IT dept. ..server always down...guards sometimes sleep and works...

well...University..is a school for student to think by themselves.lecturers are just a "usher" to lead student to a certain place. Still, students need to walk to there..but,sometimes...lecturers are not a good usher...they will only lead students to HELL...this is why some student miss their way when study...

exam or test...it's not easy as other said...i believed one cannot voice for thousand graduated or still studying(or struggling) students...if u didn't study..sure u dunno...if u study still dunno how to do in the test, u might be missed some parts from the book...NO offence...

finally....give a applause to the lecturers that I listed in GOOD section...

sudah asked the HOD.. he said "uniten dont offer double degree".. waaa.. so keciwa..

too bad la bro.. maybe after u finish your course, u can do your another course.. wah, then u will be super super senior in UNITEN.. maybe u do part time course at other places.. that's the best and only solution i think.. anyway all the best..

want to know what is the rental rates like around the UNITEN campus ?

i'm staying at kajang, sg chua.. 10 minutes drive from UNITEN.. 4 of my friends and i rented a corner lot double storey house.. its a brand new house.. and i'm paying for RM125.. not including water and electricity bill.. water wouldn't cost alot, maybe only RM6, but the electricity depends on the usage.. usually around RM50. i hope those infos could shed some light for u.. btw, don't stay at serdang.. the house there r terrible..

yes yes they have accommodation for students.. guys and girls as well..

v r just mentioning the loop holes and all. they can learn from their mistakes and v r not telling that the entire system is screwed up. uniten is still a great place to study compared to other uni. v pay a lot of money and deserve a better treatment. such as, more parking space, much more committed lecturers, friendlier administration staffs and student friendly time tables. that's all.. happy chinese new year to all

Guys exactly which apartment are you staying? I have been to Kajang to look for a place to stay but most of them are pretty expensive.. RM600 at least for a decent apartment..

And don't you guys feel that although Kajang is a small town the traffic is realllly bad??

i'm not staying in apartment. i'm staying in a double storey house around sg chua area. taman seri emas. rental only RM650. can share with friends so it shouldn't be a problem. the traffic is quite bad if u leave during peak hours but most of the time, its ok. furthermore kajang got many places to eat (even though i'm sein eating the same type of food ) and its only 10 minutes drive to uniten

It may have a Putrajaya address, but I think it is important to point out that UNITEN is NOT in Putrajaya. Its somewhere in Bangi or Serdang right?

It's in Bangi(not to be confused with Bandar Baru Bangi) actually.......
