wow!! so much negativity about UNITEN. its funny when i read all ur complaints and comments or watever.
its true that Uniten is not as good as might think it is but its better than some of the other universities. but i dont know. that's wat some of my friends told me. i got to admit, first time i was in uniten 4 years ago, life was hard.. but i got used to it. comparing it to nowadays, things have improved. not all, but some.

the lectures? hmm.. i dont know about engineering dept, but for IT/CS dept, most of them r boring as a patung. but some r ok. especially the bujang 1. they rock!!... try not to be a loner. wat i mean is try to make ur lect remember u. be friendly, go to their office, ask some advice, do weird stuff.. i dont know. be creative... just dont make them hate u. they can fail u even if u r da best student in their class.

fyi... new intake students can't stay in cendikiawan.. unless ur a foreigner. so whoever just got into uniten, u got to stay in amanah.. no worries about the parking though there. coz its plenty... unlike in cendi where there are only 109 parking spaces...i think.

if u 2 want study in uniten, word of advice.. prepare. espacially for engineering students. even though im not from engineering dept. i got lots of friends from engineering dept long time ago. most of them r gone. they told me they can't cope with it. especially everything is in english.

r u interested in IT? if u r, it shouldn't be that hard 4 u. u'll learn some basic IT thingy also there's gonna be add math and physics and english and some basic subjects ull need to learn b4 u go to degree program. after u finish foundation, u'll will have to choose either u want to major in IS or GM...if u want to continue pursuing in IT that is.

it's maintained.. u'll have to pay rm1 for rent of the swimming cap. if u have 1 dont need to pay la.. only the gym u have to pay.



skinnydude, u take chemistry in foundation in IT? i dont remember taking chemistry for IT ... maybe its a new subject.

r u an engineering student or IT?.. 3rd year degree in IT is usually is the final year right?

ape nak shame nye? its wat u call life long learning. i got a friend who is 42 years old is currently studying in Uniten. he even got 2 kids.. he's a CS student by the way.

just join.. sonok! seyes. even if ur 30 or 40 u wont do anything childish. u'll get to know alot of friends and do alot of activities. if u really want to skip orientation, i dont think u can unless u have a really2 solid reason(s), like ur father passed awy(just saying) or ur getting married or something like that. but u can skip some activities. but once again u'll need solid reason such as u r sick or u r physically challenge for that activities (need medical prove). i got to say u will get really tired... coz u might be sleeping and 1 am and wake up at 5 am. n then there no more sleeping after that...but still..my advice is, join man. u'll gonna cherish it 4ever.

no.. there's no futsal court.. but there's the atleast 4 soccer field. 1 in stadium, 1 near college of info tech and 2 near the main entrance. there is also driven range for those who play golf. stable if u want to take horse riding, a swimming pool, 2 basketball courts, badminton court there's a couple in MPH in u want to play indoor. and a couple in stadium. there's more.... too lazy to say them all.

haha.. yeah just It course. all my class is like more chicks that guys... but u know out of 5 girls, only 1 is pretty. tp in engineering courses also got a lot of girls too la... infact i think engineering girls r more "WOW" than IT ones. (sori to any girlz in this thread who r in IT).

but be warned guys.. uniten's internet/intranet connection tend to get problems all the time.. means that sometimes, there's no internet/intranet connection or some other technical problems...

you mean uniten intranet connection. but the internet? i doubt it. n yet, the internet only starts at 5 pm n ends at 7 am. but still, who needs internet when u got ultrafast intranet.
damn, i missed the good old days of dota n cs as well as file sharing. especially anime.

lol..free of charge? they charge u under misc fees. which is rm 120 if not mistaken. but its per sem.

lol... u know.. he can't just get it like that. u have to bring ur gran n insurance. n its registered under his name. so anything happens, they go to him. not u.
dont worry la. can still part inside. kolompok amanah has loads of parking spaces. not like kolompok cendikiawan.

lol... thats if u want to duplicate the sticker. no need to ask anybody for help la.
get a sticker, duplicate it and stick it n ur done. but that's dangerous. especially if u r staying in cendikiawan. every parking spaces in the apartment has an owner. so if u park in someone else's parking space.. u'll be clamped n charge rm 30 for it. i dont know about amanah though.

1st year degree is still ok la... wait until u get 2 n final year (if in IT). u can feel the pressure.. unless if u take it slowly. which means, u dont follow the curriculum book.
u guys will be given a little booklet which tells u which subjects would be advisable to be taken for each sem. usually, every sem has about 4-5 subjects. which is around 17-19 credit hours. but if u dont want to follow the booklet, n decide which subject u want to take first or not, it is still ok. but there r some subjects that cant be taken unless u pass that certain subject. eg. u can't take adv database if u didnt take basic database. something like that la. n also if u want to take slowly like taking 2-3 subject/sem is also ok. but u guys be graduating late la. many student do this bcoz they r afraid that they can't cope with it. but to me, this is just an excuse. they just want to enjoy n relax. i c alot of my friends do this.

n also for eg. if u take full ptptn loan, if not mistaken u will receive around rm8000 per sem. if u take 5 subjects per sem which is about rm5500 -6500, u still be left with around rm2000. rm 1000 for hostel fee(depending which 1 u stay). that leave u about rm1000 or so. rm 1000 for u to spend on books n stuff. but just imagine if u take 2-3 subjects per sem which is about rm2500-3500. that leave u rm2000 more to spend. unless u r really wise n save that money for the coming sem. some of my friends spends all that money in 1-2 months. buy new hp la, new laptop la, spend on gf/bf, this n that. n by the time u know it, its all gone. n by the time ptptn give all the loan which is about rm50000, u still have subjects left to do, where u want to get money from to pay ur fee?
well.. the point is, be careful. dont just enjoy all u want. think b4 u enjoy.

this r some of the problems which students have to face during the uni life.

yeah u can after 2nd sem. but that's if u r lucky. every each 1 of u will be given a time slot to register a room. so if ur friend want to stay with u, be sure they register fast to the same house as u b4 some1 else register.
ok here is a posible scenario..... ur time slot is at 8am. so u register at 8 at room wateva. n ur friend time is at 8 also. n he can register same room as u. then ur other friends' time slot is at 2pm. so he wants register the same house with u but the house is already full...so too bad.
it all depends on ur time slot la. the ealier the better. there r criteria2 that can make ur time slot be early..like transportation, hometown, club activities, grades, n some more.
unless u r a exco member of apartment like the president of amanah or ketua tingkat ke or fasi ke.... then u have the privilege of registering anything a day or 2 days earlier.

yes i should buy for safety. but if u dont want to, its still ok. the stiker is only rm4 i think.. dont remember la. the most important thing is to have ur ID with u all the time. coz now the gates uses the id swap thingy.
b4 that the guard only check ur sticker.. so the sticker is not that important.

sharing same apartment? in uniten? r u crazy? in ur dreams mate. will never happen. if u want... go the nothingham uni.. they share the same apartment, but not the same floor.. or go to other private uni which has a British names or samething.. their rule r not that strict. lol.... i heard in kliuc, both male n female shares the same building. but i dont know. (heard from some friends)
anyway...if u r caught bringing a girl inside the male apartment in uniten. ull be expel with immediate effect as well the girl that u brought in. there has been many cases regarding this issues. think b4 u do anything stupid.

for u 2 receive ptptn loan every sem, u will have to score ur gpa above 2.00 n for ytn i think its 2.5 kot... all else ur loan will be suspended.
i think u all know that right? just want to tell u ytn's requirement r bit high.

i dont think they teach spanish anymore. they also teach arabs, german if not mistaken indian also.

Added on June 20, 2008, 2:24 amok... nnt during subjects or room registration time, semua student will have a time slot to register. the time slot given to u (students) may vary from other student's time slot.
for example..u may got a time slot to register at 9 am. n ur friend may got a time slot at 10am. so ur friend cannot register anything before 10am which is he/her time slot. u cannot register b4 9am.

there r some factors that may influence ur time slot. u may complain y u have a time slot at 10am while ur friend is at 9am.. there r some several reasons. such as grade, club activities, ur hometown and several more. for example. ur hometown is in serdang while ur friend's hometown is in kota bharu.... which u thing uniten will give priority to first? the person u live near to uniten or the person who live farther?

if subject registration, ur grades (CGPA or GPA[x ingat]) may influence them. the better the grade, the earlier ur time slot is.

the benefit of registering early? u can choose which room u want to stay for room registration. for subjects registration, u can choose which section or lecturer u want to be/have.
if the section that u want to choose is full, u have no choice but to choose other section, which sucks.. unless that section is clash with other subjects then u can make a rayuan..

noo there isn't any printing services in the lab. but there is a photocopy shop/place u could print or photocopy. there's 1 in the IT department ground floor and there's 1 near the food court (Upten). there should be 1 in the library but their time is not consistent.

given in the letter? nono.. u r a new intake. they will give u a random room. so ur roommate can be whoever.
the time slot is given after ur first sem in uniten. b4 u go to the 2nd sem, they will give a time slot through ur online account/info.every student will have 1.
if ur time slot is at 12.30, u will be given 30 min in the lab to register. (bcoz there r other people u needs to register also. there isn't enough space to let all the student in the labs) but u can register anytime after 12.30. e.g if u can't register at 12.30 due to some unforeseen problems, u can still register at 5 or maybe the next day. as for ur friend, she just can't register b4 3.30. so if u want to register with ur friend, just wait until 3.30...
owh n also u can;t register anything if u have any outstanding balance that u havent paid yet. so..if u haven't paid ur hostel rent yet, so can;t register any room for next sem. same goes to subjects. if u havnt paid any tuition fees yet, then u can't register any subjects for next sem.
