Finally a 350/400D thread. I have been using a 350D for more than a year and im loving it. Pimp it with a batt grip and it feels much better.

asking batt grip at mines shopping complex. around rm600. aiyoohhh..

You sure about that? The cheapest I asked in msia was around RM420 which I think is a lil overpriced too. During the promotion period, some managed to get it at Rm299 without body purchase.

I bought mine over here for around RM500, a lil more expensive but i've no choice right now.

been using a 350D for nearly a year now. I got the standard 18-55mm lens, a macro and long range 300mm one.

but i want a better shortback lense. =( the kit lens sucks. (however, with a Polarizer the color's aren't that bad

This is the camera that i revert back after since i used the D70s and the E500 no offense to other fan boys but i really liked this camera

Can use alcohol with cotton bud to clean the sensor.... or bring for service center to do it and how much will it charge. Thank. I using canon 400D

i've been using for 2 month ago .. how much for macro lens?

since i'm oso a newbie..maybe sifoo2 her can recommend other lens that essential for photographing using 350D instead of standard kit lens. i onli have standard kitlens..but dunno any ense that fit with 350D.

I suppose it depends what kind of photographs u want to take?

I'm using a 400D.
Bought it with the battery grip for RM 2900 in the month of June this year =)

Yay, finally! a thread dedicated to 350D/400D!

I got my 400D early November and loving it, though I have not fully master it and I still take blur pictures (SIGH), I'm really having fun with what the camera does wonders to lovely pictures.

hmm...the pictures are taken outside the my place apartment right ..the shop lots' back lane right opposite taylors college. The girl at the left hand side called Florence from Alvl???? hmmmm....means you are from alvl also?? p what?

maybe we can start with macro lens..coz it seems hard to snap a macro pic using standard kit lens (bundled with 350D while brought it). so..any advice?

btw...i think i'm start loving my 350D since until now i'm till haven't finish explore it. so many features

You might want to try playing with a 50mm f1.8 lens. It's very affordable compared with other lens and it produces great pictues (of course don compare it with a f1.4 la). If you're good at bargaining, you could get it a little lesser than RM300 with UV filter.

I'm getting mine next week.

i got mine for RM 250 or so. used unit la but works like new, with filter some more.




try reverse-kit lens technique. quite fun.

not everyone has the budget. the other day i saw people shooting wedding photos - using 1.4 also, mounted on 1dmk2 la.

I've got it already - 400D. Kiss digital is the Japanese version. TS only stated 400D digital rebel xt/xti, no Kiss...

Kit lens is good enough for starters. Play around with it first and take nice pictures with it. If you think it's not good enough, then start searching around for a better one.

yup. in fact it's still good to take nice photos.

in the end the kit lens however will be replaced once you've out-grown it.

i've not touched my kit lens for few weeks already, until last night. wanted something small and with short zoom range. lazy to mount my 18-200 OS cos that fella is heavy and much bigger.

seems need more practice. .just few hours ago i'm went to putrajaya. taking some photo. oso seen few photographer with 'canon' neckstrip.

Added on December 2, 2007, 3:17 ambtw, guys i found this lens calculator. Just go and see how's the focal factor on your camera, just remember what crop factor your camera is then apply the lens on it.

I found out that the 17-40L's 100+ angle of view only works on the full frame =/ makes me think twice whether i shud get it or not, because im a wide angle freak

the only thing stopping me from getting it is the fact that it only comes in a kit. but after hearing what goldfries has to say about the kit lens, i'm starting to re-think about the offer.

Try using smaller aperture to have more view of your subject in focus. In fact, use the smallest aperture! Move your body forward and backward slowly until you found the subject is in focus and click your shutter!

i onli got lenses.. no body yet.. planning to get a 350D or a 400D..

i wanna ask advice la from you guys .. i use this 350D to tangkap gambar kenduri kahwin , jamuan makan , school activity and many more la .. most of them are indoor .. what is the best lens that suit to me? besides the normal ones

The best thing would be to use an external flash, e.g. 430EX or 580EX. That should solve most of your problems in those situations.

Kissy here -400D with EF-S 17-85mm f4/5.6 IS USM lens. I rarely used it though compared to my compacts.

This is the body thread mah, so why list out the lens as well? Plus the front page will get outdated soon when we add or sell lenses.

Some people may go up to 10 lens. Won't you think the list would be rather long?

its an optional..wherether want to add onli one lens...two lens..or 10 lens. i'll try to put it on the list. the purpose is...just wanna know what type of the lens that user of 350/400D use to capture a great snapshot. so then..can know how they use it..and where they get it.

but..like i said..it just an optional. if u just want to add just a few lens..it ok..and if u don't want..its oso ok.

guys, dont bother buy new body of the 350D. I got mine as a 2nd hand. With 7 months warranty left and 4k plus shutter only, added with extra original battery and BG-E3 battery grip, just for 2k. Go scout around.

Hello there!

For me the decision to buy a DSLR came when I was doing my photojournalism subject (i major journalism) last year. I was so inspired and all but didn't had the money to get one. I got through all my photoJR assignments with a panasonic prosumer.

Now that I've finally got one, I find that the leap was rather drastic (my previous cam was a Canon Ixus 500) and I'm having major handshake issues. I can't seem to get sharp pictures.

I'm just wondering if any of the newbies have had such problems too.

ohohoho. finally, we have a thread here... whee~ me am 400D user since July 07... realy happy with the camera except can't figure out y got "Data Corrupted" when previewing, everytime the picture counts hit 300+ .... Current favourite gear to be paired = Tamron 18-250 +430ex... whee~!!

i got the same prob be4.. "Data Corrupted" then a part of picture will gone..

I think its the memory card problem. I also encounter this problem before with my S3 IS, but after I change the card, no more problems anymore!

btw..i'm bought my canon 350D..just a week ago. around rm1900. at Mines Shopping Complex. kit with tripod, bag and 2gb card. the reason? coz DSLR can snap and delete pic. unlike camera-use-film. so..its really advantages. and fulfilled my needed.

scout 1st is better. but i don't know wherether the price are getting low day by day.

Added on December 3, 2007, 9:45 amyeah. i having it too. both weekend days...i've try snap pic without tripod. onli 3-4 pic from many pic that are not shaking at all. yang lain blurrr. so last nite i'm went at putrajaya..and snap using tripod. it seems better.a bit tired..but its fun. .

p/s- yesterday..seems a few photographer at Dataran Putra, Putrajaya. all of them using tripod. hehe. but one photographer put sumting at the front of the camera. it seems like yellow plastic.

Hi guys,

Another Canon 400D user reporting in.

I'm struggling with the handshake issue a too after converting from a prosumer with anti-shake features. Slowly getting the hang of it though.

Does any of you find the photos to be a little underexposed ? I keep finding myself having to bump up the ev for almost every shoot.

It's actually a quite well known problem that the images given by 400D are 2/3EV underexposed.

hmm smaller aperture and lower shutter speed. I have read that lens have a sweet spot for the aperture, so that you get a shaper image. for my 17-85, it seems sweet spot is at f8, I havent try it yet though.

i think ur shutter speed a bit low... since u use 1600ISO i think 60-100 shutter speed should be no problem

regarding aperture and sharpness - remember that lenses aren't at their sharpest when at their highest aperture. so if the lens is f3.5 - 5.6, then set it to a few stops below f3.5

regarding modes - i use M all the way, then only one day someone taught me Aperture / Shutter priority modes yes i admit, i didn't read the manual and neither did i use it when i was on prosumer either, i'm full M all the way. hehe, even then on prosumer I didn't quite understand (didn't like Fuji's interface) but after that M helped me grasp the thing.

as for shutter count, AFAIK 350D / 400D is not the camera that you can check for shutter count.

should always consider priority modes cos sometimes you just need it.

M mode. i guess i shud try it.

btw..lets share..wy u choose 350D / 400D? becoz the quality? becoz its CANON? or what reason?
