You might want to try playing with a 50mm f1.8 lens. It's very affordable compared with other lens and it produces great pictues (of course don compare it with a f1.4 la). If you're good at bargaining, you could get it a little lesser than RM300 with UV filter.

I'm getting mine next week. smile.gif

I just got mine from Foto Edar in Sg Wang.. RM 290 + 60 (UV filter)

Loving it..

Anyone here using the Canon 55-250mm IS lens?
*
I first saw this lens in S'pore just last week. I didn't know canon came out with this lens and also at such a price. (it was selling for S$600+ and then I found out from LYN that m'sia selling it for <RM900) At this price range, it's a real steal man.. compared to the70-300 IS USM which I was aiming to get initially.

But now that I seen this 55-250 IS (NO usm too bad.. USM, if not mistaken make t he focusing VERY fast right????) and the price also Cun, I think change target lah..

If the 70-300IS USM is a Hidden L lens, Do you guys suppose the 55-250 is also one??

BTW, Put me on the list too.

400D + Kit Lens + 50mm f1.8 II (RM350+UV filter, con job filter price @RM60 Raydawn by Foto Edar.. Stupid!!! Stupid!! vmad.gif ) + BG-E3 (S$185) + 1x4800maH Compatible battery (S$50)

Next Aim :
Canon 55-250 IS (OR?) Canon 70-300 IS USM (hidden L Lense)

I also want to join the TT session so that I can learn more and also play with your "barang" whistling.gif

Better save for the IS version =)
*
Wah.. your bonus so much one ah? Can get such an expensive lens

QUOTE(valho @ Dec 31 2007, 04:39 PM)
yeah they all using short lens, zuhrie only a 24mm i think, so must get close and personal. the only one i really approach was the taufu fa seller, but that's cost i want to eat taufu fa hahah. really a good experience, but still need to work on composition
*
can you tell me why?? I also wondering. if the reasoning is good, then maybe no need to buy 55-250 IS.. for those candid and 'you don't know I shooting you' shot.

I also shy-shy.

saw a PM'er using a 1.2L during the street shoot outing, damn big lens biggrin.gif

Actually, I'm curious to know why some lenses are so big (as in the front opening eg:72mm/100mm diameter) when some lenses are small.

If not mistaken, even some of the L lenses also small opening right?

What shot settings were used? ISO, shutter speed, focal lengths? Couldn't get EXIF data off your pictures.

Yeah man.. What sort of settings and how much you paid for it? The Lion Dance looks quite sharp. (you have 100% crop of some of the pics?)

I'm also using  Jenova Slingshot. Bought from Clik 'n Snap. You can search this thread for the photo and the link. I don't want my bag to show "Canon" or "Nikon". It is screaming Camera/
*
When I bought 400D, it came with a bag also, much like the bag which says EOS, (mine says Canon) I think should be counerfeit one.
Anyway, I don't like that bag, bulky, BIG.

ENd up I use a "lo hong ka' brown coloured bag, no protection at all one.. (esp now with the BG-E3 which make it extra heavy)

Bad..bad..

can. you can always use. but at f1.8 the DOF is very narrow.
*
And I've noticed and also from reading FM website, the sharpest is ~f2.8..
I've posted a few pictures of the diffference on f1.8/2.0/2.2 on the TradingGuide area I think..

if only can get a perfect TOP DOWN view then can make our own logo already.

I think albnok has that pic using his fisheye. But I think he's unfair. His fisheye only emphasis his 200-400mm lens and masking some of the rest. The a bit side angled pics looks much better. IMHO lah.

QUOTE(./Hack-Fusion @ Jan 6 2008, 08:03 AM)
is the 70-200nn is it F2.8 with IS??
*
Viking's is 2.8 w/o IS unfortunately. Darn heavy when I was poisoned. Only thing is, when shooting at 200mm, really can pening with the viewfinder. Shaky.. rclxub.gif

for those who find the 70-200 F2.8 heavy and hard to use, maybe you should consider 70-200 F4 with IS. smile.gif it's smaller, comes with IS. i'm considering that one.

what price ah?

yeah well my 50mm f1.8 also like that la. having focusing problem when low light also.

I think it's more like you buy the lenses for her.

QUOTE(sacrosanct @ Jan 6 2008, 07:23 PM)
Yes, I face the same problem with my 50mm f1.8; other than that, it's fine.

funny, seems like we all have the same issue with th 50mm prime f1.8 and mine is like only ~2 months old.
