hmm just realise there's a 350D/400D thread. Got mine in Sept, 400D + EF-S 17-85IS lens. Plan to add either a 50mm f1.8 or a 60mm macro lens later

QUOTE(fcbarcelona-my @ Dec 3 2007, 02:17 PM) thanks QUOTE(CutieLynette @ Dec 3 2007, 02:23 PM) I normally shoot in M mode with my kit lens. I change my ISO according to the lighting. hmm smaller aperture and lower shutter speed. I have read that lens have a sweet spot for the aperture, so that you get a shaper image. for my 17-85, it seems sweet spot is at f8, I havent try it yet though.I took this picture on my cousin's wedding, as you can see, it's not as sharp as I wanted it to be. Picture is edited (photoshoped for curves and resize) f3.5, 1/30s, ISO 1600 Canon 400D kit. |

QUOTE(fcbarcelona-my @ Dec 5 2007, 12:52 PM) thanx [ - i l l u s i o n s - ] . nice photo with 50mm lens. actually...what are the main purpose of this lens? coz some says that this lens essential for any canon dslr body coz it cheap..but have a great function. looking at the pic posted by [ - i l l u s i o n s - ], is it can use for macro lens? its a nice portrait lens and add in a close-up filter u get a cheap macro lens. best of all the lens its cheap but the IQ is good |

QUOTE(ResQ @ Dec 6 2007, 03:45 AM) what kind of condition are you shooting at, and also does you lens have image stabilization ? if you do not use flash when shooting at low light, thn of course blur loh, even if your lens have IS it also might be blur sometimes if you shutter speed too much lower than the focal length you are shooting at. |

most of the time using M, sometimes Tv or Av. M mode is fully manually where you have to adjust both aperture and shutter speed yourself.
P mode is where the camera auto adjust both aperture and shutter speed for you, so if you set smaller aperture, the shutter speed will be adjusted automatically |

QUOTE(-vip3rleon9- @ Dec 10 2007, 12:06 AM) lol thanks for the kind words. it's normal, since the flash is use for auto focus as well. you can disable the flash by going to the last mode on the dialjust got my 400D not too long ago. slowly playing with the settings. one thing i dislike is that the flash keeps popping out when in auto mode, even when i'm snapping pics in broad daylight. any solutions to this? |

QUOTE(ysyeo @ Dec 10 2007, 10:11 AM) Just want to ask all the pros... i have encounter blurry pic prob.. just want to ask your how to do a best setting based on aperture and the shutter speed... as in the manual book say the minimum shutter speed is 1/60 for EFS 18-55mm ( kits lens )... Just want to know how to count ar for the minimum shutter speed?? is it how many mm u using multiply by 1.6?? i have post some picture in page 11 this page... pls give me some comment about that.. sorry for that cause i'm just a newbie and holding the camara less than 10 days...hehe so i want more advices and comment from all the pros... =) your shutter speed should always be higher than the focal length you are shooting at, so if you shoot 55mm your shutter speed should at 1/60. You can go lower by 3 stop if you have an IS lens, lower still if you have a steady hand. also learn how to hold the camera properly and use anything around you as a support for a steady shot.as for the 1.6 crop, I am not sure if that's is taken into consideration as well when calculating the shutter speed you need to use, need some pro to clarify on this QUOTE([ - i l l u s i o n s - ] @ Dec 10 2007, 10:16 AM) When exactly is the comic fiesta? It's a fest with lots of anime stuff, cosplayer, doujin, etc. got some competition and some shows as well.ysyeo, the minimum shutter speed depends on what you are shooting and how steady your hands are. The 1/60 shutter speed is just a suggestion from Canon. With IS lenses you can even take sharp pictures at 1/10. |

QUOTE(R a D ! c 4 L @ Dec 11 2007, 07:49 PM) Yeah do that i stay in PJ, chow yang area I can drive Like someone said, 1.8k to 2k depends on where u bought it, i can ask for a good price for you(i think)... Later ill give u the price. If you're lucky enough u can get a better bargain, like mine, bought at 2k for camera + lens + battery grip. Though 2nd hand but its in superb condition and still in warranty. QUOTE(./Hack-Fusion @ Dec 11 2007, 08:33 PM) i know not much about filter, so there is hoya close up filter and hoya macro filter?? just now i suddenly confuse with the close up and macro different haha~~ i tot they are same actually they are the same, i guess people just call them differently.close-up filter is actually known as diopter, it act as something like a magnifying class to bring the object you want to shoot closer, you can actually achive the same result using a magnifying glass but more troublesome loh. its a cheap alternative to a true macro lens new addition to my camera equipment hehe, Crumpler 6 million dollar home, got it after work at KLCC » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |
