if me, just complain. then if the management wants to get your dog, keep your eyes open if there's other unit having dogs as well and make sure theirs are taken away too. things went quiet down when i sound this to the management since my dog isn't any nuisance and furthermore for safety measures, find a friend who has landed property and apply the dog license according to his/her address. If DBKL, even nicer, can get those from the post office  icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi summerboyz,

Does your apartment allows you to keep dog? From your post, it seems like your neighbour will most probably complain about it. sad.gif
Golden Retriever is different from small breed doggies like shitzu, they will grow up to a big dog - which is pretty hard to hide. Some may be barky like my shushu. sweat.gif

Furthermore, GRs require daily exercise to be happy - means you will have to bring your dog out for a walk daily. That will increase the chance of being spotted by the neighbour and management. If you keep them cope up in apartment all the time, they may start chewing on stuff to relieve their boredom.

Lastly, GR shed a lot. Is your mom ok with the fur flying around? If she is very particular about cleanlines, you may have a problem there.

Here is something to read before you decided to get one:

QUOTE
THE GOLDEN RETRIEVER IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!

The Golden Retriever is an American Kennel Club sporting breed requiring daily activity as an outlet of amazing energy. (And no...a short trip to the nearest tree from the front door for a potty break does not count as exercise.)

A Golden's thick coat in addition to a water repellent undercoat makes weekly brushing a requirement.

The Golden is NOT for fussy or fanatical housekeepers. Goldens shed and whether you call them fur balls, fur bunnies or tumbleweeds...they will be in plentiful supply across your living and dining room floors.

If there is water in the vicinity a Golden will find it... muddy or not!

If your yard harbors small sticks, leaves, etc...a Golden's coat will find it.(And inevitably drag into your house.)

Some of the larger headed Goldens bred for conformation tend to have a looser lip resulting in drooling.  Our girls gave it a more technically scientific name..."being slimmed!" (It's amazing what we have learned to tolerate!)

Being a very social breed-Goldens are NOT suited for solitary backyard living or being chained to the dog house all day and night. Goldens tackle EVERYTHING with passion and zeal! They will not be satisfied with anything less than being part of the family. Whether it's a jaunt to the store down the road or a ten hour excursion to the beach - it makes no difference to them...as long as they are with their family!  We call them the "pocket dog"- if you can't find your Golden just turn around... he is probably in your back pocket waiting to see what you want to do next.

Goldens are NOT guard dogs! Golden Retrievers are the most sociable creature on earth and probably invented the saying "I'm a lover- not a fighter!" They have NO enemies and NOBODY is a stranger.  An invitation to a burglar to "come in and take a load off" would be more rational in a Golden's point of view than anything threatening or hateful. After all...the more the merrier!

The Golden's size in combination with their frolicsome playfulness make basic obedience (At the very least.) a necessity. Golden retrievers without basic knowledge of commands can lead to uncontrollable playfulness, exuberant jumping, etc. This is not only annoying and irritating (Not to mention rude.) but a dangerous situation for a child or elderly person...no matter how well meaning their intentions.

One more thing...don't let it be said we did not warn you about shedding!

Having said all the negative...for those willing to take the responsibility and commit to own a Golden Retriever you will not find a more loving, sweet, affectionate and devoted member of your family. (Not counting your spouse!)

Do consider carefully and check around first whether there will be any problem if you decided to get one. If you really decided to get one, please make sure you have alternative backup if problem do occur. I am very happy to welcome another retriever owner smile.gif , but I does not want to see another dog being put up for sale / adoption when problem does occur - especially one as loveable as a retriever. sad.gif Just my 2 cents!

hehehe...i so bad...poison him more with GR rather than bring him back to reality (typical sales person) tongue.gif

here are the few considerations for apartment living based on experience
1. walk the dog (i usually do that at 2am before going to sleep. Hardly people is awake then and the guards don't make any issues unless there's complain.) if you were to go out in the evening or day time, people can see and complain

2. apartment is usually around 600sf to 1200sf. It's small and crammed up. You must know where your dog is limited to go especially toilet training is a big headache. If the dog were to poop in the balcony, when it rains it has no where to poop will eventually poop in the house. Note that GR dont poop on wet surface (for unknown reasons rclxub.gif ) so toilet training would be hard on newspaper as well since they tear up when they see newspaper.

3. barking isn't much of a issue unless you have GR like Prince or shushu. so far they only bark when they are excited. If someone were to talk about barking in your apartment, if it's sharp and irritating bark, it ain't your GR. GR bark are very deep and bassy. My GR (Queen) barks at owls that come into my house in the middle of the night, no issues at all.

4. If you are seriously into getting a dog, here's a consideration you need to follow to avoid any trouble. This is what I did before thinking deeply into commiting to myself to Queen. I looked around my block and also other blocks, and yes they do have dogs. There's one with an Alaskan Malamute and Great Dane in other block. In my block itself there's 3 shih tzus, 1 american cocker spaniel, 2 poodles and plus Queen a GR. If they wanna remove my dog, they must remove all. vmad.gif

lol, yah - shushu doesn't pee / poo on wet surface also. He is super fussy - if there is traces of pee/poo on the floor he wouldn't go near it until you clean it up. He will find another spot to do his business. rclxub.gif

How's queenie doing? wub.gif

haha laugh.gif same with me lor. I guess they know we will love them no matter what, so can misbehave a bit.
My grandma, who is puppysitting my 2 monsters during my working hours, always complained that they are so noisy and hyper when i am around but when i am away working, they just lay around the house and sleep quietly. Shushu will also follow grandma wherever she goes, very guai.

Yellow .... with foam? It would mean tummy upset and gastric. The yellow can sometimes be a bit green.... anyway, she vomiting out bile I guess..... she must have eaten something not right before and her tummy just wanna be empty and rest. Like human, when we eat something wrong, we either vomit or diarrhea. Normally after vomiting, it is best to let your dog rest from food. Then introduce something that is gentle to the tummy like steam chicken. Just a few pieces will do. Then later when all better, then feed the normal meal.

If your Goldie is better now, then she should be fine lah.

If she had eaten something wrong, she would have vomited that thing out.
