QUOTE(ClarenceT @ Dec 5 2024, 02:57 PM) You get 6 months free, just need to pay 18 months. No special treatment? This is special treatment? No lo. If i switch to maxis or celcomdigi i can get 6 months waiver too, right? Just that on the 7th month will pay rm129You will pay RM119/month, not RM129/month as new user. Just that on the 7th month will pay rm129 It's about being at the right timing for those getting 500mbps at Rm119. You do know there are 1001 type of pricing even during the Streamyx era. Somemore we have unifi users paying only rm119 and getting 500mbps Kthxbye If you expect to get special treatment, i can tell you just forget about it. Go for which ever cheapest, can always port out and hunt for the next best deal after contract. |

Can Unifi Stores provide the full services (such as account termination), similar to TMpoint outlets?
I need to go to the actual outlets operated by TM Technology Services Sdn Bhd, and not TM Authorised Dealer outlets. Thank you. |

QUOTE(cHiLdHo0drEaMz @ Dec 7 2024, 10:11 AM) Yes, but some user reported losing bridge mode, I don't have the device so I don't know why.what I know is, ME 171 with FwdOp 0x10 can tell ONT bridge not allowed. thus no way to force FwdOp 0x02 (ignore untag, bridge tagged) on those model. I won't recommend using ISP equipment even in bridge mode, those ONR not like old ONT like HG8240H. ChatGPT Answer: QUOTE Yes, ISPs can still manage an Optical Network Router (ONR) via OMCI (ONU Management and Control Interface), even if TR-069 is disabled. Here's how it works: So, if you have old ONT, please use that instead of given ONR, mostly old ONT can't do Routing, OLT has profile that follow what ONT is capable.OMCI Management 1. Low-Level Control: OMCI operates at the GPON/EPON level, enabling the ISP to manage and configure ONT/ONR devices. This includes settings like VLAN, T-CONTs, service profiles, QoS, and even firmware upgrades. 2. Independent of TR-069: TR-069 is typically used for application-layer management, allowing ISPs to manage devices remotely via HTTP or HTTPS. OMCI, however, works at the physical and data link layers, making it a more fundamental control method. 3. Encrypted Communication: OMCI messages are usually encrypted to prevent tampering or interception, ensuring secure communication between the Optical Line Terminal (OLT) at the ISP's end and the ONR. What ISPs Can Do via OMCI 1. Configure WAN and LAN Settings: ISPs can set up WAN connections, assign VLANs, and configure LAN parameters such as DHCP. 2. Provision Services: They can enable specific services like VoIP, IPTV, and internet access. 3. Update Firmware: Firmware updates can be pushed over OMCI without user interaction. 4. Monitor Performance: ISPs can monitor ONR performance, such as signal levels, bandwidth usage, and device status. 5. Enable or Disable Features: Features like Wi-Fi and port forwarding can be toggled on or off via OMCI. 6. Reset or Reboot: ISPs can remotely reset or reboot the ONR. Why OMCI Is Still Used 1. Fallback Mechanism: OMCI is a core feature of GPON/EPON standards, ensuring ISPs retain control even if application-layer protocols like TR-069 are disabled. 2. Centralized Control: It allows ISPs to manage devices uniformly across the network, regardless of the customer's configuration or actions. 3. No User Intervention: OMCI management bypasses the user interface, preventing customers from altering ISP-defined settings. If you have an ONR and are concerned about privacy or control, using your own router behind the ONR (with bridge mode, if supported) might give you more autonomy. However, OMCI-based configurations will always remain under ISP control as long as the ONR is connected to their network. for ALCL (Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia) has Nokia Cloud OMCI which is make Nokia can control any ONT/ONR Brands!!! I am actively pushing Bridge back to OLT, but not all using my ONU, so hard to resist like this ![]() This post has been edited by Anime4000: Dec 8 2024, 02:45 AM cHiLdHo0drEaMz and jusbella liked this post
