You can't change the ONR unless you look Anime for GPON stick.

I wish to throw away the ONR!

You can use your old fiberhome modem if you still have it.

That unit can deliver 920Mbps consistently.

In my case now I have the black ONR and 2 ONU (one alcatel, one fiberhome). If I connect either of the two ONUs they will fail to connect.

Before this the fiberhome ONU worked but the alcatel/dlink ONR wouldn't work, until TM technician call the backend to do something.
The suspicion is this shit OLT I'm connected to requires some kind of hardware bind to the ONU.

For separate device.
fibre modem = lifetime TM warranty
router = 1 year TM warranty

For combo fibre modem/router = 1 year TM warranty (nowaday TM provided)

Which one to choose ?

I applied to transfer to Celcom Fibre last week. Unifi just callled me to offer:
1. 300Mbps, 24 month contract, 6 months free, RM119
2. 500Mbps, 24 months contract, 6 months free, RM139
3. 1Gbps, 24 months contract, 3 months free, RM159

The 300Mbps and 500Mbps price is perpetual. However, the 1Gbps price is only valid for 24 months, and after that, the package will be 500Mbps for RM159 from the 25th month onwards.

I chose the 500Mbps for RM139 as it’s more than enough for my use case at home and with 6 months free too. Thanks for reading biggrin.gif

So you apply the transfer just after your 24th month contract with Unifi ends ?

I have been on Unifi since the 20Mbps top speed laugh.gif got free upgrades to 50Mbps, then 100Mbps, then 800Mbps. My contract ended maybe 10plus years ago. Been paying RM200 plus for that 800Mbps, and decided to maybe transfer to CelcomDigi coz way cheaper overall, but a bit reluctant coz of no IPv6 and CGNAT - no public IP. At least the 500Mbps from Unifi is still Public IP.

The 800Mbps is a bit overkill for me as I only download large files here and there, but I do appreciate the Public IP due to VPN tunneling to my own router. My usage currently (looking at MyUnifi app insights) is about 1.3TB download and 2.5PB upload laugh.gif so quite a heavy user if I do say so myself

Is this the same SWU4.0 deal mentioned by others in this thread? Cause no one else mentioned that the 1gbps speed is only valid for 24 months unsure.gif

I dunno. At first I wanted to get the 1Gbps deal, but I asked if this was perpetual and that was what they told me. The only perpetual price was the 300mbps and 500mbps. It might be a ruse to get me to choose a lower plan, or it might be perpetual in the future too coz who knows what plan will there be in 24 months. No regrets with that free extra 3 months of no bill payments laugh.gif

Just 2 people in my home, but I have a NAS 24x7 and CCTV that is contributing to the huge traffic usage. Good luck with your endeavor to pay less! Hopefully we all can pay less to the Telcos biggrin.gif

Ah, i see.

Yea, been keep asking TMnut during my 18th and 21th month contract but still kenot like "early" amendment.
No exception given but there are some unifi user get the "VIP" treatment which can add-on new contract.

probably it was in middle of system migration on that time.
Between April and June they did some, I would call, enshittification job with app and customer portal. During that period lots and things gone wack, some accounts stopped updating and even pppoe auth in some accounts stopped working right.

Hmm, I was one of them who also quoted the same price as mentioned for the 1Gbps but didn't know it was not perpetual but instead of 3 months free, I was offered 6 months free instead as I went to TMpoint to terminate my unifi and I asked if it was a fixed price after contract, they said yes. Guess different treatment or some know about it.
