Has your Unifi 800 been upgraded to 1GB?
My Unifi Portal previously showed that my account would get a free upgrade in 2024, but this prompt has disappeared recently, and my account has not been upgraded to 1GB yet.
*
Same. Not yet. Tempted to change to another ISP since TM is charging the same for less bandwidth…

I applied to transfer to Celcom Fibre last week. Unifi just callled me to offer:
1. 300Mbps, 24 month contract, 6 months free, RM119
2. 500Mbps, 24 months contract, 6 months free, RM139
3. 1Gbps, 24 months contract, 3 months free, RM159

The 300Mbps and 500Mbps price is perpetual. However, the 1Gbps price is only valid for 24 months, and after that, the package will be 500Mbps for RM159 from the 25th month onwards.

I chose the 500Mbps for RM139 as it’s more than enough for my use case at home and with 6 months free too. Thanks for reading biggrin.gif

So you apply the transfer just after your 24th month contract with Unifi ends ?
*
I have been on Unifi since the 20Mbps top speed laugh.gif got free upgrades to 50Mbps, then 100Mbps, then 800Mbps. My contract ended maybe 10plus years ago. Been paying RM200 plus for that 800Mbps, and decided to maybe transfer to CelcomDigi coz way cheaper overall, but a bit reluctant coz of no IPv6 and CGNAT - no public IP. At least the 500Mbps from Unifi is still Public IP.

The 800Mbps is a bit overkill for me as I only download large files here and there, but I do appreciate the Public IP due to VPN tunneling to my own router. My usage currently (looking at MyUnifi app insights) is about 1.3TB download and 2.5PB upload laugh.gif so quite a heavy user if I do say so myself

Is this the same SWU4.0 deal mentioned by others in this thread? Cause no one else mentioned that the 1gbps speed is only valid for 24 months  unsure.gif
*
I dunno. At first I wanted to get the 1Gbps deal, but I asked if this was perpetual and that was what they told me. The only perpetual price was the 300mbps and 500mbps. It might be a ruse to get me to choose a lower plan, or it might be perpetual in the future too coz who knows what plan will there be in 24 months. No regrets with that free extra 3 months of no bill payments laugh.gif

That usage  sweat.gif how many pax per household using .. ?

Me now 500mbps always less than 500GB / month these days.
Coughing (i mean covid) period that time higher like always exceed 1TB / month (300mbps pack)

My contract ending in 30 Sept 2024.
Then wanna ask for SWU 4.x

Hopefully same price as you given above or lesser biggrin.gif
*
Just 2 people in my home, but I have a NAS 24x7 and CCTV that is contributing to the huge traffic usage. Good luck with your endeavor to pay less! Hopefully we all can pay less to the Telcos biggrin.gif

Hmm, I was one of them who also quoted the same price as mentioned for the 1Gbps but didn't know it was not perpetual but instead of 3 months free, I was offered 6 months free instead as I went to TMpoint to terminate my unifi and I asked if it was a fixed price after contract, they said yes. Guess different treatment or some know about it.
*
Yup, don’t know if they offer different packages to different people. I just know that my target to pay less is achieved - either from transferring to Celcom, or counter-offer by Unifi.

QUOTE(olivur @ Jul 16 2024, 07:03 PM)
bro has your router been on since 2022 or you're storing your traffic monitor data on usb

actually don't answer that, I'd like to think it's the former lol
*
Ha3! Even though my network is backed by UPS, still need to restart from time to time due to Unifi being Unifi laugh.gif on AsusWRT-Merlin, so I could log everything on USB

What are the process you do 1st?

You straight apply Celcom Fibre transfer without informing Unifi?
After that, Unifi counter offer you new package then what happen to the Celcom application? Unifi take care of the cancellation or you must inform Celcom back to cancel?
*
It’s similar to Mobile Number Portability. In my case, I applied at Celcom, wait for SMS from Celcom to confirm my request, wait for Unifi to call to confirm my request to port out to Celcom. They called to offer me a few packages to stay with them. If I accept their offer, nothing else is needed on my end coz interrupted by Unifi. If I don’t accept Unifi’s offer, I would be ported out to Celcom.

Just checking if anyone also has faced this - iCloud Private Relay is no longer working on UniFi Networks. It still works on mobile broadband, but enabling it on UniFi network, it would immediately fail

Or use NextDNS. Cheaper at RM80/year - or 300k lookups free monthly

Mu Unifi line is still unaffected.
I have Google and Cloudflare DNS in router's DHCPv4.
Manually tested Quad9 DNS; also not affected.

Penang. No need to be specific where 😗

Actually mine in JB as well. But I have already migrated to another solution to prepare, just in case. I’m still testing from time to time to see if they have implemented this at my area

Maxis 4G mobile data

Correction, not blocked. The connection to Google, Cloudflare and many others are intercepted/rerouted to TM servers and caused the HTTPS/SSL cert to be mismatched. It expected Google SSL Cert, but got TM SSL Cert. Hence, the error

I was confused by someone mentioning that TM turned on HTTPS on those redirect servers.

Actually, I still don't understand what the significance of that is.

For general user that mostly use whatsapp, facebook, tiktok, insta, shopee, no problem at all - for now.

For other users that use torrents, online streaming (non legit), prawn, read 3rd party controversial articles, this is a big problem now.

Basically you need to trust what the government says is good for you, and will only block the bad stuff. The thing is, what’s stopping them from blocking anything they want?

If you trust the government in knowing and controlling whats right for you, don’t need to do anything else. Just proceed as normal and keep on living.

If you feel that your rights as a citizen is being breached by this DNS hijacking, then do read the previous posts on how to break through this breach of rights.
