I'm from Klang. They originally given legendary alcatel grey modem after power issue 6 months back they changed Fiberhome.
*
Same equipment as RViN. But your bind happen automatically right after you setup the Dlink ONR yourself? After that you cannot use back your Fiberhome right? As for RViN he said the tech manually called center and tell them to bind so I have no idea as to why. All I can think of is maybe the OLT in your area can handle only 1 ONT profile hence any other device not matching the serial and PLOAM registered on the OLT cannot authenticate. Usually it's to prevent rogue ONT or unauthorize ONT to connect to the system. Some OLT has that system in place. Different OLT different behavior as Anime put it.

As you can see from Anime post, ALC OLT can only have one ME171 profile for all ONT we have and first time activation, sounds like binding to me. On the other hand Huawei OLT can have multiple ME171 profile auto matching any ONT we plug in to the network. Maybe both of you are on ALC OLT idk. It's not the end of the world though you can still change equipment just need to tell them to bind the new one. How's your bridge doing so far? Mine's been solid since day one now I'm just contemplating to upgrade my router waiting for some extra 🤑 to chime in 😂

I'm about to port to Maxis, and Unifi called and offered me 100mbps RM79 per month with rebates for 6 months. It is an average of RM59.25 per month. A good deal?

Yes, the best deal at the moment you can ever have.

Maybe yeah. No issues for me either old and new if it works/ Unifi team help me just fine. In experience Unifi care way better in handling situation than Maxis to be honest even I report Maxis router is faulty speed keeps fluctuate throughout heavy usage they never solved it until now. So as payback I'm pay only past due date🤣
So far no issue also it's good to point out no slow speed on my bridge setup. Internet speeds also now better everytime touched 900mbps close with router downstairs just 300 to 200mbps mark. I'm also waiting to upgrade brand new router with 2.5Gbps as my current AX73 still 1 year old.
Aiming for better mesh system from Deco / Asus if budget no issues as tired of lot of wifi extender mesh on downstairs just to get good speed for TV and PS5. It's just looks so messy and parents keep scold🥲. Hopefully 11.11 / 12.12 sales will help😅😅👍

Exactly like the one they try to give me during my 1gbps upgrade installation 😂 No way I'm gonna accept this little s#it 😂 This one looks a bit different than the Skyworth, is this the Fiberhome? The one they try to give me has 4 antennas and less ventilation holes. Anyway the router performance on entry level (or even lower) combo boxes like this is bad. Why TM kept giving themselves headache by providing equipment like this? The service complaints will hound them.

Yes. From what I'm told by the installer black Dlink combo with 2.5gbe port are meant for 2gbps plan. The white Dlink combo with 1gbps port is for 1gbps plan. They're having shortage for the white one waiting for restock so they use the black for both plan now.

Yes. Same as now. 239 before tax. Yes. You are right. The speed upgrades to 1gbps + 3 months rebate + contract bound 24mths

Previously when they contacted in March, no such offer. Just FSU without rebate and contract. Had to reject the offer the previous time due to work related matters

TM wants to save money it seems that's why they still stuck with fiber home equipments. Luckily we gotten black box even tho it's reserved for 2gbps users

anyone ever successfully negotiated with TM to reduce price when renewing?

I'm currently running 800Mbps (free upgrade from 50Mbps -> 500Mbps in 2019, then 800Mbps last year). was thinking of negotiating a reduced price with the SWU 4.0 when attempting to renew, and perhaps pressure them with the current maxshit deal of 1Gbps for 159 and stuffs (i'm a currentl maxshit postpaid user so it'd be a win for me unless maxshit is also shit at fibre).

also, does SWU 4.0 include unifi TV? family likes to watch documentaries and news there.

Wait why they recontract you for FSU? The 3 months rebate now standard for all SWU upgrade previously 6 months. Are you sure they offer you FSU2023? To me it's not worth it to get recontracted for 2 years for a 3 month rebate in return. Did they offer it upright to you and you have no option? Geez TM nowadays becoming more greedy 🤦

If I were you, I will accept it since I will stay with Unifi and the free 3 months can average down your monthly payments to RM209. Unless you are Maxis user, right now I think can get RM159 for 1gbps and if you on Maxis own infra can get 3/6 months waive as well.

Oh so his 800 to 1G not FSU? If offer new higher plan retain old price, free 3 months, but recontract kinda ok to me. But if only he get the previous offer. Still not a bad deal though.

So what should free upgrade from 800Mbps to 1Gbps customers should get?
What did you get when you are upgraded to 1Gbps?

Anti-censorship VPN, research paper and tools

For those running your own VPN server, check out Outline from Jigsaw unit of Google. You might want to deploy something that is resistant to censorship in case they block VPN.

If you are into academia, this paper discuss the technique to detect censor, probe them and evasion strategy.

Their strategy is available here:
