for those who are travelling from Macau to HK using Ferry... better choose TurboJet as its faster and more stable then NWF..

im regret that i took NWF on my last trip in July '07; becoz i wanna get down from Kowloon and goto the hotel in Mongkok, its the only choice... the ferry is slow(compare to Turbojet), age older, and not that stable when the wave is higher.... u'll get dizzy....

i heard from my HK friend, they usually compare them as Public Bus(NWF) and Executive Coach(TurboJet).

for those who would like to stay in Mongkok, can try MetroPark Hotel Kowloon in Waterloo Road (窝打老道). its room is as spacious as our Hotel room in KL. the room is big enough to put 2 single bed + 1 extra bed + 2 small sofa and plenty of space to walk around with your luggage putting on floor.. its a 3 star hotel, and very near to "woman street", just 10~15min walks.

yes, last year when i went to Macau, also use Turbojet...much more faster...
Good...very good....I stayed at Metropark Hotel(Kowloon) when i was at Hong Kong, the room was very big...
i don know whether my room was a special one where in the bathroom, there was curtain inside the bathroom, you can control it to scroll down or up...hehe....maybe for those couple one...
yup, very near to Ladies Street,we walked there...

First of all, i would like to thanks Northasia for all the information provided. I've gone through this whole thread for an hour and i learnt a lot of stuff from everyone in this thread.

Our Plan
Me and my colleagues (20ppl) are planning a trip to Kong Kong, 4 Days and 3 Nights trip. Going by Air Asia arrive on Macau, then spend a day for visiting Churches and Casinos. Second day will be heading to Hong Kong for the rest.

Northasia,

May i know when will the Summer Shopping Season begin this year? I only found that it'll be starting from end of June to August last year. We're still havent confirm when should we go.

Thanks in Advanced.

for every 1kg extra, need to pay RM15.00 lor....
hate Air Asia for giving so low limit...
if you combine with your parents, should be no problem kua...

May I know the limit check-in luggage for AirAsia? Gonna fly to HK this coming Wednesday wink.gif

EDIT:
Found the info:

QUOTE

8.6 Excess Checked Baggage: You are not entitled to transport Baggage in excessof the free baggage allowance. If, in our absolute discretion, Baggage in excess ofthe free baggage allowance is accepted for carriage, you shal pay a charge for thecarriage of that excess Baggage at the rates provided for in the fee schedule (whichrates may be changed or varied at any time and from time to time and wil beavailable from us upon request and are available at our check-in counters).

8.7 Unchecked Baggage:Only one (1) piece of baggage is al owed to be carried onboard provided that it does not exceed the dimensions of 56cm X 36cm X 23cmand provided that it does not weigh more than 7kg. Yep Turbojet is faster and considered more "higher class" than NWF, but of coz you've to pay for these better service la.. For them who booked hotel in the Kowloon side especially in Tsim Sha Tsui, would still suggest to use NWF 'coz it's closer. For me I didn't feel dizzy by NWF, I think it depends on the tidal wave of the ocean on your travel day.

Metropark hotels are ok ar, some airlines use them as layover hotel for stopover passengers too, but there would be a lot of China Mainlanders in the hotel which is quite annoying lor..

You're right, and it costs more money on transportation as well. For short trip like 4 days in addition to departure & arrival in Macau if taking AirAsia, it's not that wise to stay in New Territories side.

Forrest, you should know the whole New Territories is very big, it is the biggest area in the whole HK's map. Not anywhere in NT is close to me.

Thanks jonath~ Summer sale will start from Aug indeed. But this year economy is very good here, so I guess the sale period would be shorten and delayed and the discount rate wouldn't be as crazy as before.

from my experience i found Air Asia weighing machine "tipu berat". Why I said so? Once I took a flight from Shanghai to Shenzhen and my luggage 15kg only. Hours later, I took a transit flight from Shenzhen to LCCT. With the same luggage I travelled from Shanghai, Air Asia claimed my luggage weight 19kg. Out of curiousity I asked the ground staff how can that happened as my luggage bag was sealed and not open since I flew from Shanghai. The ground staff kept quiet and dare not make any comment. rclxub.gif

You are not Tony, you don't know.. but they are really flying direct to HKIA this year, I got this news from last year already.

Indeed quite a few of low cost carriers flying to HKIA already, like Thai Oriental, Jetstar, HK express, HK airlines..etc.

sure they will land on HKIA, just the matter of the schedule... all i can guess is, most of the flight schedule will be in off-peak hour, is either early morning or late nite...

northasian, just checking with u. is the train from airport to town 24 hours? I'm refering to Mong kok.
i was thinking of taking MAS, arrived at 10.45pm. so it was quite late.
Very concern about this.

To whom who stay in dragonhostel b4, is the checking available at midnight?

Appriciate the feedback.

Actually Terminal 2 is not just for low cost carriers, not like the one in KL or Singapore which are built solely for them. Emirates and Thai Airways are checking in from Terminal 2 too.

Actually these info can be found from the websites I posted in #1 post.

FYI Airport Express last train will depart at 0048, if you're not gonna take the Airport Express, the last bus E21 (Citybus) departs from HKIA to Mongkok will be at around 0000, fare is HK$14 per person per way, stop right in front of Lady Street, which is just opposite Dragon Hostel.

June is not the hottest month of summer in HK, it starts getting hot, around 26'c-29'c la, very much alike the temperature in KL, but it'd be more humid in HK.
