hi, gonna travel to Macau and HK next week! Thanks for all the info provided at the first page! smile.gif

I will reach Macau at night estimated 9pm.... I would like to know the exact location of the ferry because I checked and it required to travel across the bridge to reach ferry station but I heard someone told me that the ferry is near the airport???

There is 2 ferry service, New World First Ferry and Turbo Jet but New World First Ferry do not have night service, am I right? I have to go for Turbo Jet and take MTR from Sheung Wan to Mong Kok as I have booked Dragon Hostel, am I right?

northasian, currently how's the weather there in HK? hot? cold? rainy? windy? dry? etc...

Thanks again for all the help smile.gif

stalkie,
think i can help u wif tat..

fr macau airport to macau jetty, it's about 10-15 mins.. quite near..
u can take d bus (bus no. AP1) tat goes to d jetty.. u check d sign at d front of d bus or u ask d driver..
tat would cost u abt MOP3.30 + MOP3 (for luggage)
i'm not sure wat time would be d last bus.. ?
if u take a taxi, i think it should cost abt MOP60 to d jetty..
u can use hkd currency in macau..

"i think" there would still be ferry service till midnite, 15 mins apart..
if u wanna go to Mongkok, then u need to take d New World First Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui jetty..
from there, either take d MTR to Mongkok or taxi.. depending on ur budget..
Taxi should be abt HKD 30-40 (depending on ur luggages too, cos they charge extra for luggages.. )
tat's d fare to somewhere near Ladies' Market.. i dunno where exactly is dragon hostel, so d taxi fare might be different..

hope tat helps... enjoy ur trip!

Last checked on the website for New World First ferry do not have late night service... actually their schedule kinda confusing too... you sure NWF operate night too? I will reach Macau roughly 9pm+ (already including the delay for AirAsia, just in case)

My plan now is to take TurboJet to Sheung Wan then take MTR from Sheung Wan to Mongkok... if NWF have night service then I will go for it since it's nearer to my hostel...

Another thing is MOP60 is also HKD60? The conversion is the same?

May I know the limit check-in luggage for AirAsia? Gonna fly to HK this coming Wednesday wink.gif

EDIT:
Found the info:

QUOTE

Hi stalkie, I've read your blog of the HK trip. You've covered most of the spots and food that people and I mentioned in this thread huh~ smile.gif The Japanese restaurant that your friend took you to eat in TST is called Watami, which I've indeed included in my #1 post before~ Nice, isn't it? I am a fan (and indeed a member) of this restaurant chain too! hehee.. biggrin.gif

Also thanks Stalkie for sharing your trip blog with us btw, do you have your "family room" picture to share ?

*
You're most welcome! biggrin.gif The hostel website do have the picture of the "family room", you can find it in the link provided by me wink.gif

Like I said is not really a family size room... if a person stand in the middle of the room, he/she pretty much block the entire "walk way" of the room... haha....

I'd like to know more about "Octopus card for Tourists". It's stated in the website
http://www.octopuscards.com/consumer/help/...ts/en/index.jsp

2 types available:-
HK$220 1xAirport Express Single Journey
HK$300 2xAirport Express Single Journey

questions are:-
When we return the cards when we leave HK, we will get HK$50 refund for the card. In other words, it actually cost
HK$ 170 (220-50) 1xAirport Express Single Journey, and HK$ 250 (300-50) for 2x Airport Express Single Journey.
Is my calculation correct?

besides that, is there any credit inside the card when we purchase it at HK220 or HK300?

i believe those who have experience can help...
Other than that, is there a second option? i.e. normal octopus card? how much will it cost? thank you.

Hi,

I'm too lazy to try to stimulate your calculation so I just reply from my experience instead... go to the following place stated below to get your MTR card:

MTR Customer Service Centres
Airport Express Line Customer Service Centres
Light Rail Customer Service Centres
KMB Customer Service Centre (Sha Tin Central Bus Terminus)
New World First Ferry Octopus Service Centres (Piers of Cheung Chau, Mui Wo, Peng Chau, Central Piers 5 & 6)
New World First Bus Customer Service Centre (Admiralty (East) Bus Terminus)

Tell them you want to buy an octopus card, they will ask you how much you want to load into the card... just load whatever amount you want like say maybe HKD 500 for your trip... later you can get back all your unused credit when you return the card...

It's that simple, really... biggrin.gif

hehe yea, the price for the food is not as expensive as people think... compare to the portion and the quality of the food in HK, it is definitely better than many hawker stores in M'sia...

we ate wanton mee at HKD 11 during our visit in April thumbup.gif
