Been looking at the thread for some time coz going down to Shenzhen and HK during 26th of Apr to 3rd of May...

Looks like many places to go in HK...

I'm afraid there won't be any sale during that period 'coz it's just the start of Summer season and no special festival at that time. Maybe a little bit discount would be given for the 1May Labour Day but it won't be a crazy one I can say for sure...

Electronic stuff depends la.. as advised by some forumers before, some Japanese brands' electrical appliances are manufactured in Malaysia, so prices would be cheaper in M'sia. Therefore you better check the price of items you wanna buy locally, then compare the price sold in HK when you're here.

Sunglasses.. hmm.. don't know the difference 'coz I never buy sunglasses in M'sia. But one thing for sure is ALOOK in HK is cheaper than in M'sia. It's funny to see ALOOK M'sia advertise themselves as brand from HK, but ALOOK HK advertise themselves as brand from Japan.

Mongkok.

There is no Coffee Bean branches in HK. We only got Starbucks and Pacific Coffee, both provide Wifi. HK Mcdonalds also provide Wifi for 20mins usage. Other than that, the whole HKIA provides free Wifi, and some shopping malls also provide but I don't know which one.

Hi, there.

Did anyone of you bought the Air Asia package to HK?

I dun understand what they meant by "Flights and Fuel surcharges are subject to regulatory approval".

Does it mean we have to pay those surcharges upon departing HK airport?

Also, my package includes free one way airport transfer. Whom shall I liaise with, like time and where to meet?

I'll be staying at Stanford Hotel in Kowloon. Any comments?

Any itineraries to share?

Hope someone can enlighten me.

Thanks!

Hi, Terry.

The price I paid for the air ticket (2 person) is RM880 for the month of Aug. Wanted to choose Sept at first but afraid the summer sales over already. Where do you plan to stay?

hi joce, I'm not sure about Aug sale now 'coz economy this year is good, so shops might delay and shorten the sale period. But there are still opportunities for some sale due to Beijing Olympic.

Yep, hotel rate is expected to be very high and rooms are critical also due to Beijing Olympic. Please book your accomodation asap..

HK-Shenzhen about 1hr by MTR East Rail Line.

those going to HK please buy some mask before going as i heard its FLU Season...

some little girl got the H3 virus..

so becareful... biggrin.gif

Please don't spread incorrect info and create unnecessary worry for those who have planned and booked their trip to HK.

Yep it's flu season now in South China areas including HK & Macau, but if you've done preparation then it'd be ok. My advices are, wash your hands with soap more often, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth before you wash your hands with soap, drink more water & have enough sleep to strength your immunity, stay away from coughing people if possible especially in crowded places. If you still scared, have flu vaccine 1 week before your trip.

Those kids died from flu related illness were infected with H1 virus, not H3 nor H5, as per local news. Also, the virus seems to attack young kids rather than healthy adults in this season.

It's NOT SARS. Please read HK news online for more detailed info.

Sep is still very long time from now, and flu mainly happens in Spring, ie. March - April. If HK have flu season throughout the whole year I think 7millions HK ppl will soon be extinct..

"Flights and Fuel surcharges are subject to regulatory approval" may means their HK direct flights have not got fully approval from gov't. Also the fuel surcharges may not be approved at the moment and might be adjusted even after your booking is confirmed.

You can ask AirAsia which transfer company they use for your airport transfer. If it's operated by Vigor, they have counters in both arrival hall A & B, it's just located right in front when you walk out to the arrival hall.

AirAsia advertise their direct flights to KL in HK too. The fare is HKD99 per head but I heard the taxes & surcharges added up to HKD7xx already.

Yes it's still very hot & humid in Sep. This year may have more typhoon then usual 'coz of the special climate this year. Watch out for typhoon news before your departure.

Jul not yet started crazy sale. Even if there is any sale, the discount rate will not be very high.

Don't worry, it'll be super hot during Aug, the hottest month of summer!

i saw in the article in the net, it says that the sale kicks in on sept. but im not sure la.. but im sure it will be hot lor the weather(what the homepages told a..)..hahaha
