5G is never consistent like fiber

In my new house, I am glad that I get full 5 bars 5G connection. The speedtest speed can reach 600Mbps download and upload 150Mbps.

I guess 5G speed depends on how congested/how many users are connected concurrently.

Yeah , I get third router from UM after logged to MCMC but with above signal. The result remain same at my location.

hi - anyone's UMobile Kaon modem - have OTA updated firmware already?

I've similar experiences like you, random restart or speed becomes very slow (10mbps download and below) on particular day.
But if put the SIM to phone, it works perfect.

Have asked for changing the Kaon router, but umobile asking lots of questions and required me to fill in a form.
The end result seems the same, since you've changed the router for third time.

I guess it would be the best to avoid signing contract with them😰

updated manually KAON firmware now - so far so good ... waiting to see if any problems of disconnection, now can lock to B28 and N78 ...

How is the free modem provided by uhome5g + router? Can use for cctv live streaming? is the speed sufficient?

I just subscribed to uhome 5g 24months contract. The modem pull signal very weak. Only half of full bar. But when i try and error put the modem here and there i manage to get max 400mbps but when congested can get 100+mbps.

My question is, when the speed goes 100+mbps, is that 4g or 5g? It shows 5g in the device settings but when the modem put elsewhere it still showing 5g but drops to 20mbps+-

Btw the placing of my modem to get the fast speed is so inconvenient i have to put on top of my printer. Looks ugly as hell

You just have to avoid putting it next to a wall since 5g signal has poor wall penetration. Put it next to a window.

Wow actually that makes sense. When I said i put on my printer, that position is next to my window. That's why can pull signal better. Thanks! Now i need to find a tall table or wall rack to put my modem.

Btw im using zte mc888s latest firmware update so far no issues got a bit heat coming out but doesn't get disconnected suddenly. But i want to try connect with other wifi router. I have digi zyxel router from previous digi fibre but cannot use when connect via WAN cable. How to enable it? Can someone help

You need to turn the 2nd router into AP mode if you want to use the wifi function.

Thanks for the tip. I have access to internet using my old digi router already. But it's not as stable as using umobile modem's wifi. I guess i just use the modem and sell the router. Plus i can just use 1 plug only.

So far good la the modem + uhome 5g package. Minimum / slowest 100mbps+ when congested ok la for my entire house. I can recommend. Ping always below 30ms.

Btw for those struggling with internet speed, you can try making a new APN as well. I just tried it yesterday and it seems to help when internet speed is not ideal.

Copy everything that the auto APN is except changing the ipv4/6 to just ipv4.
