TBW for Corsair MP510 dropped as well. I got a feeling SSDs with Phison controllers got false advertising.
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Pr...#tab-tech-specs

800TBW dropped to 360TBW for 480GB.

looks like it's gonna be a trend for ssd, cutting down on endurance to save cost, especially on newer releases and models.

my take is BUY WISELY. It's better to buy some of the older models with better endurance. Most of time not gonna see any real world speed differrence.

Those who bought PNY CS3030 before May 17 can rest easy.

Lastly, PNY addressed how the company will handle the warranty on the XLR8 CS3030. The limited five-year warranty is still valid. However, drives sold before May 17, 2021, abide by the previous TBW ratings, while SSDs sold after that date are covered under the new specifications.

The reality is that majority of people outside of gamers and crypto miners seldom challenge the limitations of their system. While it is true that endurance keeps getting worse at the NAND level ( it has been for the past two decades), most of us will not have to worry much if we are just doing normal office productivity stuff and casual gaming. Even the cheapest SSD will last the life of the system if you are just a regular office user.. The Chia cryptocurrency unfortunately, is one of those things that will ruin your nice new SSD if not careful. Only a matter of time before more SSD manufacturers release chia ready SSD with ultra high endurance

Thanks, not in a hurry yet since I want to purchase the SSD together with a new CPU, Motherboard, RAM and GPU smile.gif

I noticed the Samsung 980 Pro 1TB at RM1.2k at shopee:

https://shopee.com.my/-SAMSUNG-980-PRO-PCIe...7182.6565882292

Would this be a better buy than the WD SN850?

Spec wise they are very similar in terms of performance, even for endurance both also rated at 1200TBW. To me i will choose the cheapest option. In fact the price is very attractive, 2TB variant here easily cost at RM2K++

Hi, is Crucial P5 1TB good SSD? Plan to use it to replace my XPS13 laptop SSD.
Then, plan to get another 1TB either NVME or SATA as external storage, what SSD and casing type should i get? consider either USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3.
