What's your use case that demands lots of drive writes? hmm.gif

For most users, something like the 860 EVO or the Pro should be fine, unless you want to pay high prices for those enterprise grade drives icon_idea.gif

RM689 at the time of writing.

Crucial MX500 1TB at RM465 with no effort of checking for cheaper ones.

I see...

I did read this up a little and it seem SSD also not suitable. Just being used to swap plot that are to be written into HDD later since HDD is much slower. I wonder if internet connection speed also play a role.

SSD with high endurance is used to create plots that will be put on large capacity hard disks for mining. Each plot is around 102GB in size and will eat SSD's write endurance around 1.8TB per plot. For comparison, 27 plots means average time of 7-8 months per successful mine currently, but it kept growing lel

Wow... At first thought wanna mine but looks like needs really fast internet. Seems like an expensive startup if need one piece of 2tb ssd.

internet speed doesn't matter. SSD is just to prepare plots

I'm not to knowledgeable haha, but i saw ppl bragging on running parallel plotting, 5 per enterprise SSD for total of 40 using xeon 20 cores and 384GB ram, 40 plots in 5 hours

for me just playing around, takes around 7 hours fastest iinm

Apps like Primocache can defer writes on SSD. Bigger RAM means you can delay the write longer.

just stick to those with dram, while they still last.

although marketing tells us that dram-less is ok. there are too many proofs that showed us otherwise.

WD own view that mainstream market is switching completely to DRAM-less SSDs.
Given WD track record of cost cutting, can see why they want market to switch using DRAM-less SSDs.

ya…take out the dram they really can reduce cost substantially.
and that allows them to be more competitive in making ssd with lower cost per gb.
can't deny that their utilization of HMB in nvme is a success.
