Hi All, just a curious question. Does anyone uses the NVMe SSD extension cable on their system? It seems like my M.2 slot is at the back of my mobo and looking at current SSD all has huge heatsink so it won't fit.
I found (googled) some cable but all were PCI-E 3.0, has anyone uses it on PCI-E 4.0 system that can maximize it?
Thank you in advance for reply.

Both got DRAM. Crucial should be no issue since it's parent company that manufacturer the SSD themselves. There won't be case of parts being changed to different supplier.

some review say Crucial P5 will be hot and transfer rate not as great as compare to similar range ssd . any idea?

I'm using SN750 1TB. It got DRAM. Last 2 years IINM when I bought, so don't know if there's any revision. But it sure got DRAM since it's their top range model.

Transfer rate sustain at max speed depends on how big the SSD cache. If not using it for transferring hundreds of GB every time then won't notice any difference. NVME SSD if not using heatsink, it can go to very high temperature.

guys, i'm looking to add 1tb nvme and i'll be using ugreen's nvme to pcie x4 adapter. so far I've looked on sn750, 970 evo and samsung 980 and tbh all the reviews is getting me a little mixed up

i'm going to be using it to store games so i guess they all would work fine, but among the 3, would it be safe to say that the 970 evo or sn750, even though dated, would still be a better overall performer compared to the 980 due to the dramless nature of the 980?

then get the evo 970 if u willing to pay more than 980.

no need too much worry of dramless 980 because this dramless nvme utilize HMB tech to use your system ram.

what 980 better than 970 evo is the power efficiency so it will run cooler.

thanks for assuring about the dram. given the price point for the 970 evo is the same as the 980, would you suggest going for the 970 evo then? 970 evo plus is rm900+ but the 970 evo itself is basically same price as the 980

just get the 970 evo…if you concern about temp for long period of data transfer, then use adapter with fan.

if for laptop use 980 would be more suitable

Selling "brand name". Ignore them when they are overpriced.

can tell me which one is good in term of price and reliable?

i have few in mind

SATA
Crucial MX500 - 500gb / 1TB
Samsung evo 860/870

Nvme
SN750 - WD - 1TB
Crucial P5 - 1TB
samsung evo 970 plus - 500gb

so i am consider coz as 970 evo 500gb need like rm450, which same price for MX500-1TB price.

kinda dilemma if i should get the nvme or sata for reliability

SATA is always the last if you can get NVMe first.

Like I said on many threads on DRAMless SSD. Its crap.

Crucial MX500, Samsung 860 Evo (only up to 500GB) and Kingston KC600 for SATA.

Is Samsung 870 evo newer n better than 860 evo? Vendor only has 870.

Just slightly better.

Crucial MX500 1TB RMA is the new best record. Monday Lalamove to distributor, got it back on Wednesday.

hi guys,

can anyone recommend a 2tb m.2 form factor drive mainly for data storage? I saw the NV1 and it seems cheap at around RM938 but the tbw seems pretty low. is there any better performer for around the 1k price range? also not sure if it's still relevant, but i'll likely torrent files to the same drive as well though i don't torrent often
