If your still on HDD as primary drive then defo YES IT WILL BE A HUGE DIFFERENCE! Boot time can reduce by 50 - 70%
Doesnt matter even Sata SSD will see big improvements, whatmore if going NVME.

For SATA SSD get those with DRAM cache ie Crucial MX500, or Samsung 860/870 Evo, or Kingston KC600 (just becareful that Kingston has a number of sata SSD series but mostly are DRAMless crap or QLC NAND except KC)

Don't think I will go NVME

Slot is hidden behind motherboard, need to unscrew everything and remove my motherboard

SATA SSD is my first choice

Is this you refer to?

What is the keywords for Sata SSD with Dram

Thanks anyway

Unless you're using a hard tube water cooling system, I don't see much hassle in doing that. It will only take a maximum of one hour to remove and reinstall everything.
During this time, you could also clean the heatsink and fans, and apply a fresh layer of thermal paste to the CPU to improve system cooling performance.

The performance boost from an HDD to a 2.5" SATA SSD would be approximately tenfold.
However, upgrading from an HDD to an M.2 NVMe SSD would yield an even greater performance increase.

Yes that is Crucial MX500. Just make sure you get from legit seller. If too cheap its usually fake.

Not many will tell you its included with DRAM moreso Sata SSD nowadays are no longer reviewed. I remember there is an Excel list on the net with nearly all the SSD existing and it listed with or without DRAM. You will need to find that listing to be sure, otherwise just go with the models I put up.

My old PC with i5 6402P, 8gb, gtx 1605

Still using SATA hdd

Try to run windows 11 and slow like hell

Will changing to SSD going to improve anything?

Plan to use it for normal surfing webpage and occasionally football manager games

If yes, any recommendations for 500gb SSD

early this year i just clone my old pc i5 2300 from HDD to SSD (MX500), yes no MNVE slot, and only SATA 2 so cannot max speed
atleast 5 times better when turn on pc (no need keep see circle few min), open program no need wait, windows update just a little bit over 5 mins, on HDD need 20 mins

if u mean sata and nvme also same price, then yes
this is why next time choose mobo, choose the one with more nvme slots biggrin.gif

that or if u use laptop, or pc not enough nvme slots, pray it has thunderbolt 3/4 or USB4
if got, get an external nvme enclosure and voila (although u still can't get the full speed if you're using faster protocols like pcie4 or 5 nvmes)

Self upgrade. Just install it on empty slot or swap it.

Brand and model too generic. What is the model of that Legion 5?

you can search for

Lenovo [full model of device] PSREF for the full documentation on everything inside

or, search for HMM (hardware maintanance manual) for a full pdf guide on how to take apart the entire laptop to insert a new ssd
and for some models, videos may be provided

NVME...

https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/Le...5ACH6H_Spec.pdf

SSD enclosure not worth the effort. 10Gbps (1.25GB/second) max and still depends on USB bandwidth speed as well. Unless you use it only for storage.

Bought Apacer AS2280P4U 2TB recently for my laptop. RM480 during 7.7 sales. It's Gen3 and my laptop only supports this speed and will be used by my son to store games. Single-sided and with a copper heatsink, temp doesnt exceed 60c during load. Speed is similar to Kingston KC2500.

I saw KC3000 2TB for RM611 at Lazatda on 7.7 but didnt bother as I have enough ssd for this year (earlier on 6.6, I bought Fury Renegade for my desktop OS drive).

Decent price considering the current ssd market now..
