Those people continues to wait instead of buying even at lowest levels. They got themselves to blame. I even helped advertise really cheap ones here too.

You think there were no cartels before? During Covid there was GPU cartel to sell to miners. Way way back there was DRAM cartel which kena fine, then there was a HDD cartel. SSD cartel is just the latest only bro

last year was a good whole year to get pc hardware in general. this year is the recovery period of manufactureres and sellers.

with increased costs, new taxes and all, price increase is imminent. it's not a year for serious upgrades.

4TB SN850X, one of the top-end PCIe 4 SSDs, sold for 230 USD, about rm270 per GB. that was during black friday and december sales last year (I posted about these)

this year KC3000, a used-to-be affordable PCIe 4 SSD, sells for ~RM460 per GB

Indeed for something this expensive and no warranty is a big risk... then again for storage, hardware loss is the least of your problems as whats inside is more precious

My old PC with i5 6402P, 8gb, gtx 1605

Still using SATA hdd

Try to run windows 11 and slow like hell

Will changing to SSD going to improve anything?

Plan to use it for normal surfing webpage and occasionally football manager games

If yes, any recommendations for 500gb SSD

If SSD is DRAMless, thats probably the cause.

Increasing RAM to 16GB or 32GB will reduce load times too. Make sure you buy the same brand and model if you plan to add 8GB.

If your still on HDD as primary drive then defo YES IT WILL BE A HUGE DIFFERENCE! Boot time can reduce by 50 - 70%
Doesnt matter even Sata SSD will see big improvements, whatmore if going NVME.

For SATA SSD get those with DRAM cache ie Crucial MX500, or Samsung 860/870 Evo, or Kingston KC600 (just becareful that Kingston has a number of sata SSD series but mostly are DRAMless crap or QLC NAND except KC)
