hmm talking about limitations to the board, i cant help decide whether to let go of my abit ip35e or just get a better processor, theres a lot of Vcore increases and Vmch etc increase i have done but it just stops at 460Mhz(FSB).

Fair enough it does share the same clock but the cooling would be better figuring that its a 45nm assembly and benchmarking would be tad better than the e6850 dur to the cache.. hmm price.. how much is it now? is it worth getting it or is it better to wait for the Yorkfield instead..

I don't have money for that chip now but I'll surely grab when its affordable biggrin.gif
Maybe those which would like to upgrade could sell their current C2D for me cheaply (with installment if possible) laugh.gif

According to some of our forumers who had bought the proc, it is stated as 1.225v on the box.... not too sure about actual vcore when running....

Here's some more info:Attached Image

There is alot of cases saying that IP35-E having issues during OC. So I think you better invest into better boards if serious in OC. E.G. DFI LP X38 or those upcoming X48 based mobo.

If you into SuperPI benchmark, E8400/E8500.
If 3DMark, Quad.

Actually, in term of 3dmark benching... Your Q6600 still kick E84/E85's ass. Haha.. So I think you better stick with ur Q6600 at least till Q955/Q945 smile.gif

I cant answer that. But it is written on the box stated 1.225 Voltage Max. But my proc stock vcore is below 1.2

Did you guys read this review? http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/displ...olfdale_12.html

Can the following statements be trusted, considering that the wolfdale's max vcore is supposed to be 1.225v. Important facts are bolded.... hmm.gif

QUOTE
Actually, our tests showed that Wolfdale responds very good to Vcore increase. But we didn't aim for record-breaking speeds, so we only increased the processor Vcore in the BIOS Setup to 1.5V that resulted into the actual 1.42-1.46V taking into account Vdroop. This voltage increase is relatively harmless for a processor using an efficient air cooler and is acceptable for systems running 24/7. However, even in this case our Core 2 Duo E8500 didn't disappoint us at all.

We managed to get this processor to run stably at 4.37GHz. No doubt: Wolfdale CPUs will become another overclockers' favorite, because Conroe processors could hardly hit these speeds at extremely high voltages and with special cooing systems involved. By the way, our processor running at 4.37GHz retained quite acceptable thermal mode of only 70°C under workload.
