Yes, looks like heat might be the culprit.

Anyone knows what is the best tool to monitor your Vdimm in Windows apart from Everest?

I happen to know that Everest is not quite reliable. I also notice that it reports my Vdimm to be 2.1V when I had +0.5V in the BIOS.

i din't touch vdim .. cos i dont really understand it.  does that mean it's unstable ? thanx  biggrin.gif

Download Orthos and run stress tests like Small FFT or Blend.
If it doesn't crash after a couple of hours, it's probably stable.

If you enable the thermal control, etc, I don't think it'll burn out? I think AMD's are more prone to burnings than Intel smile.gif

I think it's only ON/OFF instead of setting a temperature for it.

i juz use the windows version of bios update (gigabyte @bios). easy. few clicks and restart pc biggrin.gif

This is interesting. Previously, I always do it from DOS but if doing it in Windows is just as good, I'd really like to try it out biggrin.gif
I believe the software is a lot matured and better these days.

Did you add up some Vcore? Although CPU's can be overclocked but sometimes you have to compensate those extra Mhz for additional voltage.

I read about the new Wolfdale E8400 and looks like they are good overclockers. SSE4, 6MB cache and most of all 45nm which helps give lower temps and consume lesser energy.

A comparison between E8400 VS E6850 says it all biggrin.gif I'm eyeing on this one for now. Well, I don't need the CPU power really but it's all about the fun of overclocking.

The quads would go cheaper sooner or later, it's a matter of time. Those Pennryn would be nice, lesser heat smile.gif
